[ Here's Alex, bundled up in his space sweater and the comfiest pair of space-lounge pants he can find and the thickest socks as well because, goddamn, metal floors are cold, standing with arms cross, glaring down at what he thinks is supposed to be a microwave like its some kind of puzzle he's supposed to be solving. Lips in a tight line, he runs a hand over his chin, looking very pensive and dignified, before uttering - ]

Nuh uh.

[ Whatever, they can do this, it's not like cooking takes rocket science, right? He grabs one of the mugs they've got filled with water, up-ends one of the Insta-Cocoa packets into it and... very cautiously set it into the silver box thing that he seriously hopes is meant to do what he thinks it's meant to do. Door close... Staring... ]

Can't be that hard, right?

[ And just gonna... push some random buttons he thinks are the right ones. Hopefully. We'll see. ]

[By this point, Claire's already over at the fridge, checking to see if there's any milk. Of course, it's not the exact same as it is back home, but she's used to it by now. The milk is set on the counter, and while she waits for the water to boil she pulls herself up to sit on the counter next to Alex.]

It looks like I'll have to be sure to stay here more often. Someone has to make sure the two of you don't break everything. Seriously, though? I've been stuck here for a year now. I can show you how to use just about everything.

And a certain someone here still owes me a trip to the zoo.

[Why yes, that is entirely an innocent and not at all an amused almost evil smirk on her face, Alex. She slowly glances over at Sean.]

You'd want to go too, wouldn't you?

Exploring for manuals, at least. [ Said muttered to Sean.

He gives Claire a look as she hops up next to him. This is his counter, what are you doing here :| Whatever, it's fine, you're cooking for them, so he'll deal with you in his space right now. Right up until she mentions the zoo, and then there is such a lineface coming from this kid. ]

Don't remember signing anything saying I owe it to you.

[ But whatever, he's snerking at Sean now. Sean at the zoo can only mean one thing. ]

Make sure you take him to see the fish.

Showing us around will be useful. Things here are even more confusing than the things Hank comes up with. [Sean isn't quite plaintive, but he is... honestly a bit lost. Except he's not lost to the things she is doing. And it's heading towards something absolutely delicious.

... and then he gets distracted.] There are fish? I didn't know this place had that kind of water bodies, although I suppose they could be imported. [His turn to nudge Alex with an elbow] Come on. How many times will you get the chance to see space animals? That would be cool!

[And with a bit of a smile, he's moving again, this time to set mugs for all three of them.]

Where did the whole thing with owing a trip to the zoo come from?

When Alex first showed up, he was a little...hostile. [She laughs as she recalls poor Alex's first day here, and gives Sean a very knowing look. Alex is moody, they all know this by now.]

Or really, I was just having a bad day and I talked him into going to see the zoo with me sometime. It's one of my favorite places here, because it's so normal. Well, kind of normal. Everything's a hologram, so it's not exactly real animals, but it's as close to normal as I can get here. So I like going.

[She hops off the counter and goes over to the mugs Sean has gotten out, and starts pouring in some milk and chocolate powder. Just a couple more minutes, and the water should be ready.]

With everything that happens here, it's nice to have a little piece of normal every now and then.

[ Hostile's a kind word for it, so he'll just swallow dryly and keep his mouth shut. He didn't need Sean to know he told Claire she can't be part of the team, snapped at Charles and then tried to dislocate Erik's jaw.

He leans his head back against the cabinet, shoulders slack while he gives no commentary on the rest of it. Claire explained it... decently enough. If not entirely accurately. Regardless, he's thankful. ]

Pictures of fish, Sean. Not real fish.

Oh. [Yes, that is Sean, wilting a little. That isn't nearly as much fun. Although...]

... I wonder if the holograms can be disrupted by a quick little shout. And how much. And what would happen.

[Planning to cause trouble? You bet!]

[Hm. That's a good...question. She smirks over at Sean and tries her best to act like that's a terrible idea. Too bad she loves experimenting with powers.]

The only way to know is to go try it out.

[She looks up through the hair that's fallen in her eyes at Alex.]

We could go now. After the cocoa, I mean. No point in ruining perfectly good chocolate.

[ He smirks at Sean. Pretty sure his sonic screams won't mess with holograms, but whatever, it'll be fun to see the glass shatter while he tries, right before they get banned from the place forever.

He considers it for a second, glances from Sean to Claire to back at Sean with a 'don't make me do this, man' kind tight-lipped expression. But looking for hiding from social interaction behind Sean, he knows, will get him no where. The guy's practically committed to making him some kind of normal person. Whatever.

Alex gives a shrug and an eyeroll, voice begrudging. ]

Yeah, yeah, fine, we'll go. Whatever. [ Here's hoping they get banned so this doesn't become a regular thing. ]

[It will be fine, bro! We're not aiming for good normal family time, after all.]

Great! [Groovy!] Let's see how much disruption we can cause. I'm sure the kids will enjoy the chaos.

[And hey, it depends on the principle of the holograms. There's always the possibility that they use sound waves as well...]
