[Spike's here for much the same reason. He's a few drinks in before he sees Cordelia.

He goes over to sit on the open barstool next to her and nods at the bartender.]

Two more of what she's having.

[He looks over at her while the bartender prepares the shots.] I see you're holding up well.

[Cordelia glances over at the person sitting next to her. She's not really in the mood for company, but she nods to Spike anyways.]

Word of warning: it tastes like paint thinner. Really strong paint thinner.

[At his words she shrugs a little.] I'm fine.

Brilliant. That's my favourite flavour. [He knocks back one of the shots, pushing the other towards her. If she doesn't want it, he'll be happy to drink it up, of course, but it's only gentlemanly.]

Glad to hear it. I'm fine too.

[She takes the shot, downing it rather quickly. She doesn't like it, but she wants it. It beats feeling everything, right now.]

We're all fine, I'm sure.

[She can't help but be a little sarcastic. It's a fallback.

But what right does she have to be upset? She had encouraged Buffy to go after Angel. Practically put the stake in her hand.]

[ A little after Spike vacates, Xander heads over. They're not on good terms in the least. He blamed her in the big argument. He's angry at Buffy and he displaced that anger to his ex. So, she kept information back. No, wait, it's not okay. Because Angel is dead. And --

Buffy's alive and that's what matters.

He leans against the bar preferring to not take a seat. He'd taken enough shots here the last few days that he orders a water. ]

That stuff'll burn your esophagus.

[She rolls her eyes at Xander's voice. If he's come here to tell her this is all her fault, he can save it. She knows full well what part she's played in things, and while she may not like how things turned out, she doesn't really how they could of ended any other way either.]

Gee. I haven't noticed that yet.

Just -- be careful. If I remember you're of the more lightweight variety and that increases tenfold in space.

Does it? [No one's given the whole memo about the alcohol being stronger here. Before tonight she hasn't ever really seeked it out.]

[Alec is there because he likes being social. And watching people. And ... well, actually, it's mostly because he likes people watching. But he hears Cordy from a couple stools down and smirks]

I'm with you on the tequila. The taste never does anything for me.

[She looks over at Alec...and unfortunately for him is mistaking him for Dean at the moment.]

The hangovers it gives are never exactly fun either.

[such is his life. he'll gently correct her when it's time. but he'll wince sympathetically, even though he's never had a hangover -- at least not from alcohol]

They really have a way of kicking you in the ass, don't they.

That's one way to put it. [She's still vaguely thinking of the nasty one she had showed up here with. But at least drinking in Caritas with Wes and Gunn had been....sort of more fun.]

[And here's the ol' bartender to pour it]

Do I sense a 'I'll have to cut you off' brewing down the line?

Maybe. [She thought about it a little more.]

Probably.

This is the point where the bartender offers a sympathetic ear.

It's a long story. [And a weird one, at that.]
