[He smiles and takes her hand.] I think I can manage that, Slayer.

[slayerdom]

[ For some reason, him saying it causes a spidey sense kind of thrumming in her veins, but after only brief hesitation, she steps closer to him and begins to shuffle in a slow rhythm. ]

Found yourself a place in all this yet?

[breakmychest]

[He puts a hand on her hip and starts to shuffle in time, smiling at her. Something about this girl... Spike would tell anyone who'd ask that he's far too cynical to believe in love at first sight, but the romantic part of his soul that he keeps buried deep is shouting for attention, suggesting that just maybe there is more here than just a British alien girl with a great smile.

He mentally yells at the voice to shut up and let him focus.]

Working on it. This place isn't anything like home. It can be a bit much.

S'pose it could be a bit on the jarring side for anybody who hasn't been off-planet before. [ Her other hand rests up on his shoulder. ] What century?

Uh, 2011. [Since going to Greendale gives him a jump up in years.] I take it you have been, then?

[slayerdom]

Spent more time off than on. [ She gives a little shrug. ] Twenty-first century, though, bloody good year for humanity. Give it a few centuries, you lot will be out in the deep recesses as well.

[breakmychest]

Oh yeah? That sounds... amazing. [He tilts his head, looking at her with wonder.] Too bad humans like me are only limited to one century, and we're lucky if we make it that far.

[slayerdom]

More than a century's a bit of a waste, anyway. You get to the point where you've seen enough to stop appreciating it.

[breakmychest]

[He looks surprised.] Are you over a century old?

[slayerdom]

There are two things you don't ask a lady -- weight, and age. [ It's around fifty percent teasing. She doesn't mind, because after you've been alive as long as she has, you stop counting wrinkles. But it's funny to tease him for asking and avoid answering. ]

[breakmychest]

Mmm, but I've never been very polite. [He shakes his head and doesn't press.] You wear it well, if you are.

[slayerdom]

And I suppose it's this bad boy act that's made you popular? [ Yep. Act. Buffy is calling you out. ] I'm a bit tougher to fool.

[breakmychest]

[It's a total act, and his eyes widen for a moment. No one's called him out on it in ages. He pulls back a little, but not far enough to break contact or stop dancing.] What makes you think it's an act?

[slayerdom]

Well, for starters. [ She smiles knowingly. ] You made the very fatal mistake of admitting that you were on the overwhelmed side from all of this. [ She steps back to twirl herself beneath his arm and then steps in closer again to continue her assessment. ] And you've spent more time complimenting me than talking about yourself.

[breakmychest]

[Huh, he has, hasn't he? Damn.]

Do me a favor, pet, don't mention that to my friends? I sort of like the rep I've got going.
