So I finally got around to calling the people at BT about the fact that my internet connection keeps dropping. After a protracted conversation with someone who was clearly not even in England, let alone from England (or indeed any English-speaking country) in which I had to explain the same thing three or four times in increasingly simple language ( Read more... )

You can always ask, anyway. I was never part of a guild in that game and still had no problems finding RP buddies or other assorted tanks to run my pansy-ass priest/warlock/shaman through instances. Chances are strong that those high-level characters have low-level ones sitting on the same account. If you can find someone with a hunter close to your level, jump on it. I've learned they compliment the magical classes brilliantly.

Ah, but see there is this glorious thing called the random dungeon finder. You queue up for either a specific instance or a random instance of your level and the system automatically groups you with 4 other dudes wanting to run an instance. Since you're a shammy you could pick to be either Heals or DPS depending on how you're specced. And then the system finds you a tank, more DPS and/or Heals. It's GLORIOUS.

Except a lot of them are morons with BOA's so just have patience with their epic loser-dom.

I think the hot key is "I".

The dungeon finder is cross realm so it's not just people from your server. It will be across all European servers, so you shouldn't have to wait long. My hubby is heals and he rarely has to wait for longer than a minute or two.

Due to my unwillingness to interact with other players in any way at all, I just skip the dungeons. I tried one solo and died rather fast.

The ability to ignore the dungeons is one thing I like about WoW. In Guild Wars there were several missions you had to do to get to the next bit of the plot. Which was particular annoying when you found yourself in a group whose leader thought a blood necromancer was an adequate substitute for a healing monk.

Oh, and Orgrimmar is full of high level people because it's a major horde city. It's also full of lower level people because it's the first big town that orcs and trolls get to. They're just harder to find.

I find the dungeon finder tool quite useful- I did instances all the way through to 80 with it (as my guild were all 80+ at the time. Sometimes the quality of your teammates is a little variable, but overall, it's still useful.
