I'm glad to hear you've found a mentor. Are you going to pursue court artistry?

For now! If they'll let me...I don't know if I'd still have to go to school for it, though.

I'm not certain if you must. Has Mr. Parmelee said nothing regarding that?

No- we just went straight to work. He doesn't like wasting time with questions...but I think if I make a list beforehand it'll be alright.

He said he went to art school in Chicago though. For painting, though. Not drawing in a court room...

Glad to hear it, kid. You deserve the job.

And I been good. Was just talking about you to somebody, as a matter of fact.

A kid wanted to get a job. I was just saying you did too. Same age as you, too, I think.

Oh! I guess it isn't so strange then...(most of the kids nearby just play outside or go to school)

A chum of mine from college used to talk about drawing gestures. Contrary to how that might sound, they weren't just expressions, or hand motions. Rather, these gestures are apparently very fast, shaky drawings. Not something you put a lot of detail into.

I suppose, that given the lack of posing in court artistry, a significant portion of your mentor's work would be modified gestures. That might be why he's so focused on speed.

I think he mentioned something like that...Well more like "get everything down first and then put in details"...

("And do it fast")

Yeah like...everything being made of shapes...circles and ovals mostly for people. It's kind of easier...

It's sort of a job! I get 50¢ a day practicing with Mr. Parmelee...and it might go up to 75¢ when I get into the court room...

Just for the stuff I do for him! Like cleaning up sketches...trying to replicate them...it's like practice and a job at the same time!

Oooo...an artist. That is so adorable!

So, you just get paid to draw people as they sit up on the stand and stuff? I never got that job, you know? Doesn't make any sense. Why do we need one?

I don't really get it either...but if that's what they want!

You always give them what they want?

Why keep any records of courtroom proceedings?
