- 42% of adults were smokers.

- The average price of a haircut was $2.05.

- 72% of adults were married.

- The average price for most groceries was under $1.

- A three minute phone call to someone across the country was $2.

- 75% of all typewriters sold were IBM Selectrics.

My typewriter IS an IBM Selectric. I can't imagine using anything else (except a good PDF editor).

Things were oohh so much nicer , cheaper... etc.. in the 60's.. I did look up one GAY fact about anything in the 60's... -- "In 1961, Illinois became the first state to do away with its anti-sodomy laws, effectively decriminalizing homosexuality." :)
