Six books this month, bringing my total to the year so far to 33 (my goal is 75)

Northanger Abbey by Val McDermid
This was the third book I've read by McDermid, each time on recommendation by someone.  And sadly each time I've not enjoyed it.  This is an updating of the original story by Jane Austen and I simply disliked nearly all the characters. ( Read more... )

What was that Ellis Peters story? I usually love her stuff, it's surprising that she's managed to write something uninteresting.

I enjoyed all her Cadfael stories, but didn't like Death and the Joyful Woman (part of the Felse series). This one was called A Lift into Colmar.
