It was a regular, busy day for Ness. Thank goodness. He had spent the previous day doing some furious Lunasa shopping, fighting with other late shoppers to get gifts. He walked away with arms full of gifts. And an empty wallet.

Rushing to get items before other customers did was easy when you could grab it before them via telekinesis.

He was spending his day alternating between shifts at the infirmary and delivering presents without a moment's rest in between.

So busy, in fact, that he breezed right by Joshua, not noticing the other boy.

Later, he would blame this oversight on the fact that he worked the previous day's night shift and that skipped his usual nap.

Joshua nearly sighed in exasperation when Ness simply shot past him without a word of greeting. What was he going to do with this boy?

"Ness!" he called, but didn't shout.

The call was enough to make Ness slow down. Someone wanted his attention? Well, that was common too. He was one of the doctors on this ship. Plus people were seeking him out for Lunasa gifts.

So when he turned to look at who needed him, he nearly dropped the gift he was holding, (a box of chocolate dipped strawberries for Ryuzaki) and just stared for a second before responding.

"...h-hi, Joshua," he replied.

Joshua grins and tilts his head to the side when Ness turns, pleased by the obvious shock in Ness' face. At least some things didn't change. He'd hate to become predictable.

Leaning his luggage against the hallway and placing his bag on top of it, he strolls up to Ness and leans in close. "Happy Lunasa," he whispers with a wide smile.

And he draws back and turns away.

After settling his business with Sophie and his mother's hat, Hachibei realized that he had to work quickly on everyone else's presents. He still didn't know too much of the crew, and he was on a greatly low budget, since he couldn't sell his last painting until later. So, he had settled on the simple making of cards, instead. A poem and a drawing should be simple enough, after all. He was sitting at the top of the deck, drawing where there was still light.

He looked up just once and managed to catch sight of the boy with a bag, luggage, and gun. He couldn't help but stare.

First stop was the deck, because with all the people rushing around Berum and all the people rushing through the Way, he could do with a little calm before he hunted for Ness and moved in (though not necessarily in that order). He's pleased to see the Way's deck is mostly empty.

Giving a little wave of his hand when the other teen looks up, Joshua smiles and approaches him. He stands his luggage upright with a soft drag of its wheels against the wooden decking and curls a hand under his chin thoughtfully. "I didn't know we had a starving artist on board."

He'd actually seen the teen around the Way before, but he never got around to talking to him. At least in person. He was sure this was the same artist on board the Way he'd seen on the network. Unless Kurt had picked up another one without him knowing...

Oh, shoot. The teen saw him staring. Well, at least he was welcoming and smiled, so Hachibei smiled back. After gently placing his art on his lap and his pencil in one of his pockets, he took a quick, good look on him. He didn't like someone he knew, but he had a feeling that he definitely saw this guy before.

"Well, I wouldn't say I'm necessarily starving." Hachibei replied to the comment, rubbing the back of his head. "I could be doing better, though. I didn't know we were bringing aboard another passenger. You like art?"

Joshua grins at the question. "I like all forms of the arts! They all have their own unique beauty that speaks to the heart." He sighs, raising his arms in a shrug. "I'll never understand why people don't take the time to appreciate art."
