It took her several trips to cart everything down to the engine room, especially with Dandelion tangling around her ankles the whole time. She'd nearly tripped several times, and had actually scattered some bits of cheese and salad on the corridor floor by the time she thought to pick the kitten up and make him sit in her apron pocket.
He squirmed in a tickly sort of way, but at least she wasn't falling over.

Finally she ended up cutting it in half and stacking them -- Rikku would end up with a double-tiered cheesecake, but she was sure she wouldn't mind.
She enlisted a group of mice to help with the plates, although they'd just reached the hallway leading to the engine room when they took off, squeaking in terror from the scent of the cats. Giselle frowned (in as much as she was capable of frowning, anyway; it came out more as a pout) and leaned against the wall, trying to support the cake and the plates and the utensils and...oh dear ( ... )

Good, he thought, I guess I didn't need to ask Giselle to distract Rikku after all...
Slipping over to the birthday girl, he smiled brightly.
"Happy birthday."
He offered her first a chaste kiss on the cheek (Since they were in the middle of everyone... He didn't want to have an intimate gesture disrupted by the others, L in particular.)

A few minutes passed before Rikku spoke again, surprisingly serious. "Hey, Riku, you think we'll always be like this?"
