By the time von Karma realized exactly which hallway he was walking through, it was too late for him to turn back. Or, more precisely, he did not want to turn back, because that would be admitting defeat on some level and he wasn't about to do that.

He walked almost noiselessly by the infirmary, hoping that none of the infirmary personnel would notice him.

Unfortunately for the Grand Admiral, of course, Jade had long since instituted precautions where problem patients were concerned. And really, respected though he may be, the Grand Admiral was nothing less than a medical trial.

Jade glanced up from his reading as he spotted a blue-and-gray blur flit by in the mirror perched just above his desk. In 4 long strides he was across the room and stuck his head out the door, glancing around for any signs of moti- ah, there. Jade half-smirked to himself. "Good afternoon, Captain."

von Karma didn't bother stopping, although he slowed a bit.

"Hello," he said stiffly, trying to think of a way out of an examination.

Jade could quite plainly see the Grand Admiral's shoulders tense up. Delightful~

"How surprising, you made it down here on your own." He gave the Captain a look of benign seriousness and gestured politely to the door. "No time like the present to get this finished up, mmm?"

If there was one thing Hijikata had to detest more than just Edgeworth, it would be doctors. They always rubbed him off the wrong way, even when he was young and up till now. It wasn't that he was afraid of them or anything (and hell would freeze over of that happened) - it was just... unsettling, with all those medical instruments and all that complex pish-posh. Complexity was not part of what made up Hijikata Toshirou.

So the man had a rather sour expression on his face as he stalked down the hallway towards the doctor's, cigarette smoking in-between his lips as always. Hell if he cared if smoking wasn't allowed in the doctor's quarters (he never botherd to remembered the rules anyway), he'd just do what he wanted and get this fucking annoyance of an examnination over with.

Jade made a mildly irritated sound under his breath as he caught a whiff of cigarette smoke wafting down the hall and into the room. He pulled out Hijikata's file, rifling through it while waiting for the man to walk by.

The reluctant footsteps neared, and Jade caught sight of a mostly-familiar smoke-wreathed figure in the doorway. "Lieutenant Commander," He said in a manner of greeting, curt but not impolite.

The boatswain was hardly amused by dragging himself here for this examination but as the boatswain, he had to set some form of example - how would the others act if he didn't act himself? The demon boatswain of the Victoria II wouldn't back away from anything without a fight, at least.

"Doctor," Hijikata returned curtly, eyes shifting uneasily around the room. Not matter how much he tried he could never shake off the uneasiness that he felt whenever he was in this room. It was pretty unnerving, really.

The man seemed...more tense than normal, but Jade was used to that reaction in a medical setting. Odd how people reacted to a little science.

"Remove your jacket, please." He said without much ado, already gathering a small pile of harmless-looking equipment. "And I should remind you that nicotine contamination could make this examination a great deal more painful than it should be."

Human doctors always treated Fran like some experiment, wanting to try this drug or that operation, just to see if she responded. Needless to say, she didn't hold them in the highest regard.

But the medic aboard the ship seemed decent enough, so Fran wound her way down to the infirmary. If she was going to be on the ship, she might as well have a medical file.

Jade looked up at the sound of footsteps nearing him and settled his expression into one of pleased politeness the moment he noticed Fran entering the room. Truth be told, he was quite looking forward to this opportunity to study a viera - what little information on them available was vague and likely fraught with errors. Quite useless, really.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Fran," he said, standing.

Fran nodded in reply. "Good afternoon." She glanced around the infirmary. "I'm sure you already know why I'm here."

"Of course. But I'm rather loathe to try any examinations just yet;" Jade adjusted his glasses habitually as he spoke, "There's always the chance something perfectly benign for humans could be dangerous for you, not to mention I'm unsure how far our standards of measurements would apply, biologically and anatomically speaking."

Edgeworth was tempted to treat this "update" the same way he treated most appointments of this sort: avoidance. Usually it was the same thing, repeated ad nauseum. He'd come in, get prodded with the same sorts of instruments, receive the same shocked exclamation about his blood pressure (something about how they'd expect this in a man ten years his senior, or some other rot), and, on occasion, receive a useless prescription to treat his "insomnia". It was a waste of time for everyone involved, really.

However, his attempts at courtesy had finally caught up with him, in the form of questionable medical records. Curtiss didn't seem like the sort of man to let it drop, and if Edgeworth didn't cooperate, he'd either dig through the records himself or find some other way to make his life hell. Or both. In the end, a quick examination was the lesser of two evils.

So, with no great amount of cheer, Edgeworth walked down the corridors to the medical ward. Along the way, he reminded himself to relax. It didn't work.

Jade had just begun considering the benefits of physically hunting down crew elusive crew members when one of the main culprits in his plague of avoidance rounded into his office. If the first mate's hunched shoulders and furrowed brow were any indication (though both were a common sight on the younger man), Edgeworth in no way wished to be where he was, yet he'd come nonetheless. Ah, duty.

Or perhaps it was because of the odd, cornered look he'd flashed at Jade's mention of unusually sparse records, but whatever it took~

Jade allowed himself a small, polite smile as he walked over to Edgeworth, but refrained from anything more than cool professionalism. "Commander," he said, holding out his hand, their brief greeting earlier at the banquet flashing through his mind, "I trust you made it down here easy enough?"

Edgeworth took Jade's hand, and gave it a quick, firm shake. "I managed to survive, Commodore" he said, as he started to remove his jacket. It was placed unceremoniously on the coat rack, before he walked further into the clinic. "You said there were some problems with my medical records?"

Jade nodded briefly and turned back to pick up the Commander's file. "Well, I doubt they are inaccurate or misreported," he adjusted his glasses and gave Edgeworth a sidelong look, "but they are inconsistent and shockingly outdated." He quirked an eyebrow, look at but not actually noticing the other man. "I apologize, but we'll likely have to do a full examination to catch up."

Falco didn't exactly want to come in for a check up, (even if that doctor insisted it wasn't one) even less so since he was more or less ordered to do so. But he remembered he was on a goddamn military ship and he was going to stay on it, even if it meant going against his rebellious nature. Doing what the doctor said was a good idea, especially if he wanted to stay a pilot.

Holding back some choice words, he entered the infirmary trying to appear as cheerful as possible, even if he was frowning quite a bit.

This better not take very long.

If Jade was at all surprised when Falco walked in the door, he gave no sign. He gave the pilot a polite nod and walked over, clipboard in hand. "Lieutenant...Lombardi, yes?" He held out his hand. "I'm Commodore Curtiss, but Dr. works just as well. If you'd be so kind as to remove your jacket, we can get started."

[ooc: Sorry for the delay - was out of town and then argh brain block ._.]

"Yeah, yeah, Lombardi. Just Falco is fine," Falco snorted. He didn't like formality. Nor did he like how utterly retarded it sounded. Lieutenant Lombardi. Geez.

And there the good doctor was going again, ordering him around. But Falco wanted out of there as soon as possible, so he kept his beak shut and did what the Commodore asked, removing his jacket without (verbal) complaint.

Jade walked back over to the pilot with paper and blood pressure band in hand and stopped just short of him. "Aside from your aquiline traits, are there any medical differences between you and humans? Any odd reactions, regeneration abilities or the like I should know about?" He gave Falco a considering look, trying to adapt his diagnoses to fit his crew mate.
