He still remembered the feeling of triumph when the Bydan mission had finished. The satyrs had been stopped and, more importantly, everyone had survived. It was the best he had felt in a long time, a rush of excitement and accomplishment that made him understand, just a little, why Jenny tried so hard to help people.
Then he'd heard the reports about the explosion, and the section of the continent that now no longer exists.
Needless to say, though he still got everyone Amicus gifts, he didn't much feel like participating in any of the festivities yet. So he stayed on the ship instead and tried to digest everything that had happened.

But he was honestly glad to have company. Not that that was going to stop him from complaining.
"...not a kid, Dean." And if anyone asked, he was definitely not pouting.

This year, however... Oh, this year was rather glorious. She couldn't help but appreciate the scale of the destruction - and her involvement in the preceding events with Low Key, though only tangentially related, was still damn entertaining on several levels.
All in all, she was in a far better mood than the rest of the city, and enjoying the hell out of flaunting the fact. She spent half the day walking around and basking in the city's gloomy atmosphere, and half sitting on the deck and offering to share some of her Amicus booze with her crewmates, far to cheerfully for the circumstances.
[ooc: And if anyone wants to find out more about Low Key, she'll talk. XD]

"Or a real interrogation, for a goot few years," she added. "Hyu gots veird methods, but it did vork nizely, hmm?" Although it was more than just the captain's strange methods that made her sound so cheerful when she thought about it.

"Just be careful not to spread around too much of that good cheer," he sighed. "I can't think of anybody 'round here who'd like a war as much as you."

Well, she wasn't going to make an effort, was she?

As he looked up from stubbing out his final cigarette, he saw her sullen stroll up to him and he felt a mixture of relief and anxiety. Well, she'd showed. That was good. And it wasn't like he was expected her to show up in a pretty dress with a grin slapped on her face. He'd have been more likely to run away from that than her almost default scowl.
He straightened up and offered her a smile as she walked to meet him. "Hey. You came."
He smiled a little more and, choosing not to beat around the bush, extended the hand carrying the bouquet of roses for her, "Uh. Happy Amicus,

"Of course I did, idi--"
Then she caught sight of the flowers. He'd got her flowers. What a soppy, romantic idiot. Who said this was going to be a date anyway? She sure as hell didn't. Still, she stopped, surprised, and coloured instantly.
