Yeah, after finding himself in a whole lot of cold water at one of the hot springs in Licere, Joshua was not going anywhere near another 'hot' spring for a while. That didn't mean he wasn't up for a little adventure out in the city.

He was just exiting the Convoy when he caught sight of one of the cabin boys... Joshua couldn't quite recall his name at the moment. He hadn't seen the guy around the ship for a while though (it was kind of hard to forget that sort of face); Joshua had thought that maybe he'd joined another crew. Apparently not.

Giving him a lazy wave as he approached, Joshua called out to the energetic guy. "Keep jumping around like that, and you might find out day souring when you fall off the docks."

Lee glanced up, taking in the person who had just joined him outside. He had never met the man before--more than likely due to his extended illness--but he was happy to make a new friend (as always.)

"Oh! You do not need to worry! I am quite agile and I have excellent balance!" He was not trying to to be full of himself, it was just a statement of fact and since Lee never lied, one could always trust his words to be true. "And how are you on this lovely day!?" he asked, pivoting swiftly around so that he could more easily look at the other man. "Oh, forgive me! I have forgotten my manners to the beauty of the morning! I am Rock Lee, a Cabin Boy of the Convoy! It is a pleasure to meet you!" Lee quickly bowed before straightening again.

Joshua's mouth quirked up into an amused smirk. Ah yes, Rock Lee, that was his name. An odd name, but certainly not as odd as some of the other names Joshua had heard.

"My, my! Aren't you an energetic one!" Normally one would stick out a hand for a handshake or something, but Joshua wasn't that kind of person. "Yoshiya Kiryu, passenger on board the Convoy, but you can just call me Joshua." He loosely curled a hand under his chin, as if in thought. "I hadn't seen you around in a long while I thought you joined another ship. Don't tell me you missed us so much you snuck back on board!"

Lee blinked, caught off guard. "Oh, no, not at all! I was just very, very sick and I did not want to get anyone else sick so..." he trailed off there, shrugging.

"How long have you been a passenger on the Convoy?" he asked, curiously. He hadn't had the opportunity to meet many--any--of the passengers on the ship before now. He had a million questions to ask, like where Joshua was going, but he thought that might be too rude. He didn't want to pry, but he was curious.

Like Joshua, Gaara had also ended his trip to the hot springs early when the water had become unpleasantly chilled. At least it had helped calm some of his frayed nerves. However, unlike Joshua, Gaara was content to just go back to being a shut-in in his room on the Convoy. He had chosen to forego the usual knee-length jacket; instead wearing a grey undershirt with a much smaller-than-usual gourd strapped loosely around his midriff (he had left the bigger gourd in his room.)

The redhead had just arrived at the docks when he saw an all-too-familiar bundle of green spandex come flying out of the Convoy, with all the flambuoyant energy he had come to expect. It seemed that Lee had returned to his old self, which was good. Gaara slowly came to a stop, watching his hyperactive lunatic of a best friend bounce around as if his legwarmers had suddenly caught fire.

Lee turned at the sound of someone approaching, his expression turning from curious to overjoyed when he spotted Gaara. It felt like forever since the last time he'd seen his friend and most important person--he had refused to let him visit in case he got sick as well--and the sight of him made Lee swell with joy.

"Gaara!!!" he cried, rushing forward, arms held wide ready to envelop Gaara in a hug. "It has been so long!!! I have missed you! How are you? Have you been taking care of yourself? Have you made many new friends? What have you been doing since I have been sick?" he asked, rapid fire, staring keenly at Gaara.

The redhead would have been very startled had it been anyone other than Lee running toward him at full-speed with the intent of squeezing the life out him. In this case he let the hug happen, both out of respect that they hadn't seen each other in a while, and because he wasn't yet fast enough to dodge the martial artist and the Sand had long since stopped paying attention to Lee and his antics.

"I'm okay," Gaara answered, somehow knowing that he was going to have to answer a bunch of hurried questions. "I've been taking care of myself. I haven't made any new friends. And I've been reading, mostly, and developing some new sand techniques." The redhead gave his friend a long, searching look, staring at Lee as though he were a math problem he couldn't fully understand. "You seem to be feeling better now. That's good."

Lee perked up even more at the mention of new techniques. "A new technique?! Then we must practise together again! It has been far too long since we have spent time together, indeed! What books have you read? Why have you not made any new friends? Has it been difficult? I could not imagine why someone would not want to be your friend!"

He smiled, striking the Nice Guy Pose. "Indeed, I am feeling much better! Thank you for noticing!"

Kuro didn't even know the hotsprings had turned cold, actually.

Cats and water and clockwork bodies just didn't go together no matter what universe you were living in.

Eventually he had found himself a nice place, a large, flat rock not very far from the Convoy actually, to nap. Wood was almost always perfect for napping on, but good napping stones were more difficult to come by.

Too much sun and it would be too hot.

Too little and it would be too cold.

This one? It was perfect. Then again, cats were good at finding good napping spots.

His ears perked up when he heard a loud voice coming from the direction of the ship, but otherwise made no move to acknowledge it.

Lee had moved far enough from the Convoy to see a flat rok with a spot on it. At first, he could not tell what it was, but as he drew level with the rock he saw that it was, in fact, a cat! And such a cute cat it was! Lee wondered if it belonged to anyone or if it was just a stray in need of a home. Or perhaps it was a wild beast, free to roam the land as it saw fit with nothing holding it back! What a noble way to live! Lee could relate to that.

"Good day, Kitty-san!" he said, leaning over and looking at the cat, right in its face. "This looks like a lovely spot to take a nap!"

This was almost exactly what happened to my sister once except the cat didn't talk XD invincible_kuro January 25 2011, 04:48:37 UTC
Kuro's head turned up when something blocked the sun. After a short pause, he opened his eyes halfway and simply said, "Screw off."

Lee stumbled back, his mouth falling open in surprise and pointing a dramatic finger at the cat as he stuttered. "Y-y-you can speak!!!"

He quickly right himself, leaning forward and looking apologetic with all the determination he could muster. "I am very sorry for disturbing you, Mr. Cat! I did not mean to!"
