Ulquiorra, after he'd spent a little time in Antrim and sorted out anything he'd gotten himself into afterwards, decided to check the ship for any stray monsters. Sure, so the ship was docked a little way away from the village, but on The Long Night, you could never really be too careful. He didn't look happy, but then again, he never really did and as he made his way to the cabin area, he was on the look out for anything that was out of place, such as any Antrim monsters that may have sneaked on board where they shouldn't have. Nobody needed to be savaged in the corridors by out-of-place monsters, after all.

He paused when he heard muttering, turning his head to the noise to make sure his ears weren't playing tricks on him. Without the sounds of his footsteps getting in the way of the voice, it was much clearer ...though not exactly ghostlyHe started walking again, determined to find the source of the noise. When he saw the cat, his eyes narrowed. The noise was definitely coming from the general area and talking cats weren't ( ... )

Kuro was in the process of examining a promising looking corner when the question was posed. His whole body seemed to freeze for a moment, but forced himself to relax. Generally, it wasn't very hard to convince people that they were hearing things, so he turned around with the cutest most unstrained kit face he could managed.

"Meo--AAAAAH!"

He pressed his back into the corner, not even noticing that he was now standing on two legs. He pointed one shaky finger at the man, "Y-you--!"

Hm. Odd. He didn't remember ever wronging a cat. Some people knew him by description, of course, but not anybody that he would assume to be in contact with a creature like this. The reaction was a wise one, but he wasn't in the habit of murdering pets. No, he saved that honour for much bigger creatures. That left a burning question. Who did it think he was?

"What?" He asked, not even bothering to point to itself.

He didn't think for a moment that he was being mistaken for a ghost.

Kuro tried to calm down. He wasn't being attacked (yet) so maybe this guy wasn't a ghost...though he certainly didn't look like a normal human.

The rectangle panel on his body opened with a faint click and he reached one paw in. Never mind that he was trying to stay inconspicuous, or that if this guy really was a ghost bullets wouldn't actually work on it, but weapons were to Kuro what security blankets were to small children: even when it wasn't really helpful, he still liked having it in his hand.

"Oi, are you a g-ghost?"

Kurumi heard the voice, all right, and noticed the cat. Her eyes widened and she looked left and right down the hall before starting to follow after him.

"Ahem." She hoped that sounded imposing enough. "What are you doing here?"

Kuro gave her an unimpressed stare over his shoulder. Then he opened his mouth...and yawned, before he completely ignored her and kept right on walking.

Kurumi winced like she'd just been injured. "Hey!" She ran after and tried to cut him off. "Look, stop pretending. I know why you're doing this and I know how you feel, but there's no one here but me, and I won't hurt you. I won't tell anyone else about you, either, if that's what you want. So just stop treating me like an idiot."

"You realize that only idiots and crazy people talk to cats and expect them to answer, right?"

But despite his monotone, he did stop, and looked at least like he was listening now.

Before Sam made the decision to explore Antrim alone against the Captain's orders he was walking through the halls with Mjöllnir, his robotic cat on his shoulder. He had heard the cursing and he was curious to learn who it was. "Who do you think that was?" He asked his cat and got a beep in response.

Ah, what was this? This wasn't Scuzzy, had Hex made another one? He crouched down so he was more level with it and allowed Mjöllnir to jump down and examine the other cat. "Hmm, you're new, aren't you?"

Kuro sat on his haunches and tried to look as much like a normal cat as he could managed.

"Meow."

But he couldn't help the way his eyes kept darting between the robotic cat and the man. If his experiences so far have taught him anything, it was this: people who built robotic animals were usually crazy, often out to take over the world and always making his life more complicated than it needed to be.

He tilted his head slightly, that charming smile never leaving his face.

"Did Hex make you too?" He addressed his own pet. "Haha, I guess that would make you two siblings."

Sam poked Kuro's ears lightly and wondered if he should return it to Hex.

Who the heck was Hex?

He slapped the hand away irritably, "Stop that." Then clamped both paws over his mouth. Crap.

"Er...meow?"

With Mister Box firmly tucked under one arm, Oichi was completely prepared for heading out to Antrim. Then she saw the cat and got sidetracked. Because, hey, a cat! She watched, mildly interested as he rounded a corner. The talking went completely over her head, because talking wasn't weird. People did it all the time.

Her footsteps were surprisingly silent as she walked up behind the cat, and she crouched down so she could take a closer look, "Mister Kitty, what are you doing?"

It was usually hard to sneak up on Kuro unless he was asleep or otherwise occupied, but when he was he'd usually jump about a feet in the air and pull some kind of weapon on whoever surprised him.

Like right now.

"ARGH!"

When he saw that it was just some human woman, he lowered the gatling hand-cannon.

"Don't sneak up on people like that!"

To her credit, Oichi didn't even flinch with a gatling hand-cannon pointed to her face, just blinked and tilted her head to one side staring at the cat.

"Sorry, Ichi didn't mean to scare Mister Cat."

She extended one finger and poked the lowered gatling hand-cannon, not sure what it actually was.

"Just...don't do it again."

He batted her hand away.

"Stop that."
