He also probably didn't expect to see a small monkey scrambling around on the deck. Upon spotting him, the animal climbed on top of a barrel, leaned over, and stared at him. Then it turned its head back and chattered in monkey language, gesturing at the man.

"Bu-ling is coming, An-nin," came the voice of a little girl. Its owner ran over on her hands and feet in the exact same manner that the monkey had. She stopped to stare as well.

"Who're you?"

A...a monkey? No. Surely the ship hadn't been cursed during his sleep, turning the entire crew into helpless animals and sparing only him. The sight of another one running on all fours did nothing to dispute this theory.

It seemed like the second one could still speak. It also looked more like a person, when he paid attention. "I'm afraid I can't tell you," Aileru said brusquely.

The little girl stood up and put her hands on her hips. "Why not? Are you an invader? The last time people snuck onto the ship, they were a bunch of bad guys who tried to blow it up."

Why would he want to blow up a ship while it was flying with him on it? Was that what the last guys tried to do?

"No, no, no." He leaned in closer and cupped his mouth, "You see, I'm on the run. If you knew my real identity, it could put you in danger." Or him in danger, depending.

Aileru may have met one monkey, but there was another on board the Amestris. And this one? Dropped from somewhere above Aileru, using the guy as a convenient landing cushion before scampering a short distance away to eat the banana he carried.

That was it, the monkey curse had to be true.

But stuck with that form or not, what this one did was inexcusable. It had already been transformed into an animal, so another transformation wouldn't do. Aileru watched the thing eat, and a much simpler idea came to him. He took a step over and plucked the banana from its hand, dangling it level to his own head and out of the creature's reach.

Oh, now that was just mean. Even standing on the hand on the end of his tail, the Ataro wouldn't be able to reach the banana. The monkey was quite agile, though, and leaped at the stranger in an attempt to climb him for the banana.

While Ataro did that, Gold came up onto the deck, stretching before putting his arms behind his head and whistling. He hadn't seen the stranger and any monkey shenanigans... yet.

So climbing on him once wouldn't be enough would it? Well fine, if the monkey wanted the banana so bad he could go get it. From over the side of the airship, where Aileru tossed it. Hmph.
