In the entryway to the main crew chambers, one of the recently installed light fixtures had fizzled out. It had probably been installed wrong- a lot of the hired engineers and mechanics who had helped with the repairs had been unfamiliar with the Convoy's higher technology. The problem with this particular light was that is was recessed in the ceiling- about twelve feet straight up.

Good thing there was an ever-so-helpful Virus on board as Technology Mistress. Anyone else would have needed one of those silly ladders. Hovering in midair, Hexadecimal laughed to herself, her mask an expression of [Delight] as she very quickly took care of the problem.

How many Insane Viruses does it take to change a lightbulb? Just one.

*happily catches crazy Virus* Yayyy Hex-chan~! :3 traveler_boy September 8 2010, 11:47:33 UTC
Spader was still wandering blissfully about the halls, his big grin waning a bit upon noticing the slight dimming due to a burnt-out bulb overhead. He looked up, his almond-shaped eyes quickly becoming egg-shaped when he saw a person levitating over his head, laughing and apparently fixing the problem. That...was not something you see everyday. However, being the masterful friend-maker that he was, he quickly smoothed over the little ruffles in his demeanor and threw the flying lady a big friendly smile and a wave.

"Hobey-ho there, mate." Spader called cheerfully, easily tossing away his momentary surprise in the wake of his usual feel-good attitude.

Hex, so enthralled in her work, was not paying much attention to what happened below. Her interface units were plunged deep into the circuitry of the improperly installed light, and her Viral Code was busily 'coaxing' the fixture back into position. Thus she was [Surprised] to hear a voice from below her.

Changing her mask with a swish of her non-interfacing hand to an [Intrigued] expression, she look down at the new face below. "Why hello, dear!" she exclaimed brightly, and then looked [Perplexed] "I don't think I've seen you before." Another swish, and she wore her favorite expression- that of [Crazed Delight] "A stowaway, perhaps?!" She laughed wickedly.

"Me? A stowaway? Never!" And Spader laughed along with Hex, though his laugh was more joking than wicked.

"You probably haven't seen me before; I just joined the Convoy's crew a couple days ago. I'm the new mechanic, see." he explained proudly, dark eyes sparkling. Spader then held out a hand for Hex to shake. "Name's Spader. Vo Spader. Happy to meet you, mate." he said with a charming smile.

Lee was, very nearly, back to his old self. He was perhaps missing only a little bit of his usual youthful enthusiasm, but overall, he had bounced back. Speaking with Gaara after the drunken incident had helped, and knowing that his most important person was going to try to at least understand love made Lee feel more hopeful and upbeat.

He was just heading back in from a long training session--longer than usual to make up for missing so many--and was on his way to grab lunch, his stomach growling to be full, when he spotted someone he had not yet seen before. Because Lee, himself, was still new--newish--he did not know whether the man walking down the corridor was new or not. But he smiled nonetheless, walking closer.

"Hello!" he greeted, passing the man. He stopped a bit, realising that he should at least introduce himself. "Sumimasen! My name is Rock Lee, it is a pleasure to meet you!" He bowed slightly, grinning as he straightened up.

Lee!!! *tackle* traveler_boy September 9 2010, 01:54:34 UTC
Spader had immediately noticed Lee as he came near, and easily returned the cheerful grin thrown his way with one of his own, before waving a hand dismissively and grinning brighter at the apology (which he automatically understood.) Spader blinked at the small bow, but mimicked the motion and chuckled lightly.

"Hobey-ho, Lee. Happy to meet you. My name's Spader. Vo Spader." Spader said happily, holding a hand out for Lee to shake and flashing a charming smile.

Lee blinked in confusion for a moment, before he grinned back, grabbing Spader's hand in a strong grip. "It is very nice to meet you," he said, pausing a moment to think over the name. "Su-pei-da-san," he said slowly, making a face. "Spader-san," he repeated a bit faster, still in the same dialect as before. "You have a very interesting name!"

He released the other man's hand, still smiling. "Are you new to the Convoy?"

Spader nodded as Lee pronounced his name, continuing to smile cheerfully. Maybe it wasn't perfect, but he wasn't going to nitpick over something little like that. "Thanks, mate," Spader said happily. "Your name's pretty spiff, too."

Spader nodded again, his dark hair swishing around as he did so. "Yup! Just hopped aboard a couple days ago. I'm the new mechanic!" the dark-haired young man beamed proudly as he spoke, as though joining the Convoy and becoming a mechanic were the highlights of his life. Which they were, in a way.

Haha, yayyy a log with Kame-chan~ :3 Hello! ^^ traveler_boy September 9 2010, 07:57:09 UTC
Spader's grin brightened up a few watts when he saw the other man. He couldn't help it though; he was just so darn happy. He'd been having great luck in getting to meet a lot of his new crew mates. Some of them...stranger than others, but friendly all the same.

"Hobey-ho there, mate." Spader chirped happily in reply.

I think lots of people will make the same Spader=Kame connection. And you just made Spader's day. ^^ traveler_boy September 10 2010, 00:30:53 UTC
Spader's happy meter immediately jumped up a couple of notches when the silver-haired man actually returned his unique greeting. Most people didn't bother. He nodded, his dark, shoulder-length hair swishing around.

"Yup! Just joined a couple days ago; I'm the new mechanic, see." Spader explained, beaming, and held out a hand for the other to shake. "Name's Vo Spader, at your service. Happy to meet you, mate!"

Pfirsich had found his new quarters, and though they were of a good size, the needed a proper airing out. Thus, both the small porthole and the door were as wide open as he could keep them, the door propped open with a small box. The tall blonde man himself stood by the window, and was in the process of straightening the lace curtains that he'd just hung.

If Spader hadn't already been keeping such a keen lookout for people to meet, he would have completely missed Pfirsich's room. He'dve just walked right on by. Instead, though, the little box holding the door open had caught his attention. Spader gave the box a puzzled look, and saw through the crack in the door a very tall man fiddling with some lacy things, thus flipping the little curiousity switch in Spader's brain. And once the switch has been flipped, it cannot simply be ignored.

Fidgeting for a few seconds while weighing his manners against his curiousity, he settled for knocking a few times on the door. "Hobey-ho there, mate." Spader called cheerfully, dark almond-shaped eyes shining as he poked his head into the room. "Whatcha doin'?"

Pfirsich smiled to himself that someone had been so polite as to knock. If more of his crewmates were like this person, he was certain that it would be quite a pleasant place to work. "Brightening this room up, even if only a little at the moment," he replied as he at last adjusted the curtains to where he wanted them, then turned to face the friendly stranger. "She is a lovely ship, but I think that a few personal touches help one to feel at home faster, don't you?"

"She is indeed." Spader agreed with a big grin, fully entering the room and wandering over to stand next to the other man. He eyed the curtains thoughtfully.

"It looks spiff." Spader said after a few seconds. He meant it too. Maybe lace wasn't something he would've chosen for his own room, but it looked nice all the same. "Is there anythin' I can help you with?" he asked, looking up at the taller man earnestly. Spader did so love helping people, and the chance of getting to make a new friend was nice little bonus as well.

Prime was pacing around the inside of the ship, taking down some of the lingering Lunasa decorations. It was with a handful of paper chains in his hands that he turned a corner and saw a young man on the ship that was unfamiliar to him. Surprise registered on his face, and curiosity.

"Hello," he said, stepping closer. "I take it you're new to the crew?"

Spader turned at the greeting, friendly grin up and running at full capacity, and looked up at the tallest fellow he'd seen yet. It seemed there were quite a few tall people on this ship, not that Spader minded any.

"Hobey-ho there, mate." he greeted before nodding up at the... man? machine? "Yup! Just joined a couple days ago; I'm the new mechanic, see." the dark-haired young man explained, beaming proudly and holding out a hand for the robot to shake. "Name's Vo Spader, at your service. Happy to meet you!"

It was at that point that Spader noticed the big bunch of paper-looking things in the other's hands. He tilted his head curiously. "Say, mate, would you like any help with that?"

Taking the smaller hand in his own, Prime shook it gently. Hobey-ho...? It must be a human phrase I'm not familiar with yet, the robot decided. "And I am Optimus Prime, captain of this ship. Actually, if you're not doing anything else, I wouldn't mind a hand getting these decorations down." He didn't want to take Vo Spader away from any mechanical duties, but the work would go faster with two people, and Optimus wanted to get to know everyone on his ship.

The dark-haired young man blinked, his grin brightening by a few kilowatts. Today was definitely his lucky day; to get to meet the Convoy's captain while wandering randomly through the halls. "Hobey, it's great to finally get to meet the ship's captain!" Spader commented happily, before shaking his head. "I don't have much of anything to do right now, actually. If there's any way I can help, mate, I'd be more than happy to oblige." he said with a big, friendly grin. Spader did so love to help people, and this was an opprotunity he definitely didn't want to miss out on.
