It wasn't as if he didn't have people-skills; no, a handicap like that would've gotten him nowhere given his social status. Sync would've rather just not fight a lost cause when he could've spent his time doing something more productive like eating. To be frank, getting at least one good meal down before they set off was more important than playing dog while they were off duty.
