Olivier drummed her fingers on the table before pushing her maps and books aside. It was a horrendous leap she was taking, but she had carefully defined her boundaries in her own mind before she even went on shift. When the knock came, she was calm, focused, and ready.

No one on board had heard her sound quite so cold, so detached, so vicious. Prime was going to figure out very quickly that she was no old soldier.

"I'll preface this by saying I don't trust you completely. Come in, Captain."

Blue optics regarded her as he stepped through the door, pulling it closed behind him with a click. Prime was sharp and alert, conscious of the change in Armstrong's demeanor.

"That is your decision, of course."

He stopped across the table from Olivier, remaining standing with his arms folded. "Well? What is it you want to tell me, Miss Armstrong? What's this information I'm supposedly interested in?"

"I'll also remind you, then, that you're being given a choice."

Palms flat on the table, Olivier stood. She wasn't intimidated by Prime, but she wouldn't let anyone just tower over her. It was instinct, if nothing else, that drew her up to full height.

"So, being as I'm generally a soldier of my word, here's your choice: I'll tell you why I went home, or I'll tell you why I'm on this ship. Either way, this conversation's going to be productive for both of us."

Prime considered her words for a moment. He assumed he would understand why she was discussing this with him when she gave him the information.

The choice was an easy one. "Why you left is your business, not mine. However...your reason for being on this ship is another story. Especially if it could affect my crew. You must be offering me this information for a reason." If it was valuable enough to offer up as a trade for a promotion...even if such a trade was entirely unnecessary, the gesture if nothing else had Prime interested.
