For anyone who wants to find out about her secret joy... legallygreen July 17 2010, 15:33:03 UTC
Jennifer had had nothing to do with the pig hunt, but there was no reason not to make herself cordial for the festivities. She smiled a little as she finished pinning a curl in place on her head and put a hat over it, this one made of delicate velvet and decorated with a curling feather. She was already dressed in the brilliant peacock gown she had purchased, the dark plum colored velvet of the gown setting off the peacock patterned brocade that made up the bodice and the underskirt of the bottom ( ... )

Ah, seedy bars. One of Dimo's favorite places to be. <3 theschmotone July 17 2010, 22:07:47 UTC
If there was a low-class, seedy drinking establishment in a town, it was more likely than not that Dimo knew about it and regularly terrorized its regular customers when he was in the area. This one wasn't bad, though it didn't serve anything that would get him seriously intoxicated. Few places had the money for that much alcohol, or that strong of alcohol.

As it was, the Jäger was seated at a small wooden table set off to the side of the bar. It had been painted once, but whatever bright color it might have been was long faded to a dull gray, with only flecks of the paint hanging on to the wood. He'd been nursing a tall mug of ale for the better part of an hour when the Ambassador walked in. What was a lady of her caliber doing here? Dimo cocked his head to the side, listening intently to what Jennifer said. When the sailor laughed in disbelief, the Jäger walked toward the bar with a friendly smile on his face, setting a small pouch of coins on the cracked wood.

"I iz betting on de girl," he said smugly.

The tray of shots was set on the bar, and people were starting to crowd around them slowly, staring at an entire bottle's worth of shots. It was like they expected someone to die, or someone else to pass out. And the someone else was certainly Jennifer. Undoubtedly, some of them thought they would have a chance at her necklace or her money, or possibly her virtue while she was drunk off her ass. It made her smile a little ( ... )

Dimo was impressed. He'd seen the Ambassador take a drink before when he'd first met her, but that had just been sherry. He'd been under the impression that she didn't imbibe alcohol, and so to see her go through an entire shot of scotch as though it were water piqued his interest.

"Hyu's velcome, dollink, though I don't tink iz gonna help much." The Jäger allowed his yellow eyes to stray over to the burly sailor on the barstool beside her. "Dot guy iz probably gonna drink hyu under de table. But hyu gots to support hyu friends, eh?" He patted her arm reassuringly. "Und if any of dese eediots tries to take zometing from hyu vhat hyu doezn't vant dem to vhen hyu iz drunk under de table, hyu gots me on hyu side."

Yoruichi was not the most social of animals. However, she was getting pretty sick of being holed up in the ship all day. For a time, she had considered wandering as a cat, but perhaps it was better to be seen out and about than to go indulging in her voyeuristic (if useful) hobby. It was a form of retreat.

Instead, she sat outdoors at a table, taking in the street scene. People seemed to have gathered from all over, there were a few paper lanterns hung by street vendors near where she sat. Walking down the street she had seen pork prepared in every different way, being sold out of carts, off of grills, and from various regular establishments with signs in front declaring their specialties for the event.

Nearby her a giant hunk of meat was being roasted in the open air on a spit, but Yoruichi had passed that up for something being served inside a small green restaurant, pork cooked in milk. She had taken a seat outside on their small patio however, all the better for people watching.

Even though Ryuuki hadn't joined up until after the hunt, he was still taking advantage of the shore leave to get into town. He had a brother to find, after all.

He had spent a couple of days before joining up in town, with no results to show for it, but Ryuuki was going to try again anyways.

"Excuse me, miss, but have you seen this person?" He asked a dark skinned woman sitting at the patio of a small restauraunt while holding up a drawing that, no matter how you looked at it, didn't much resemble a person.

Yoruichi dutifully leaned forward and examined the piece of paper.

"That's supposed to be a person?" she asked, her voice slightly sarcastic but not unkind, merely registering her frank opinion of the artistic quality. "What happened to this person?"

To make them resemble that picture, of course.

Okay, so it wasn't a very good likeness, but still, "It's not that bad..." He muttered.

Since he couldn't read minds, Ryuuki answered Yoruichi's second question with the truth, "He disappeared thirteen years ago."

Well, this was nice, wasn't it? Hakkai was rather glad he had missed most of the excitement of the hunt while down tending to his injured crewmate, but now that the dangerous part was over, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Hakkai had found a seat on a worn wooden bench at one of the tables and was watching the crew and townspeople mingle together, drink in hand, letting a smile cross his face while he relaxed and enjoyed the festivities.
