HAVE YOUR TEA BITCH, VK. hushthenoise June 1 2010, 09:32:23 UTC
No, Neku had no idea why was he up here. He was supposed to be in his room (or in the brig, either would be equally fine), doing whatever he should do and being by his general emo self. He was not supposed to be all the way up here in the deck at this time of the day for some reason that the teenager had already long forgotten. Why the heck was he up here again?

I should just go, the teenager grumbled to himself as he stopped in what he had been doing (leaning against the railing and drumming his fingers against the rails) and straightened himself, glancing around to make sure that nobody had noticed him before he tried to quietly get out of the brig. Hopefully without anyone noticing.

...really, von Karma could do with a cup of tea, and, unfortunately for Neku, he was the first person von Karma saw.

"You," he said, immediately heading in Neku's direction.

Oh great, he was spotted. Again. Why was this always happening to him? Did something above hate him that much or something? Neku felt very inclined to believe so right there and then.

Here goes nothing then... ungh, the teenager thought to himself as he stopped and turned around to face the man who called him, arms crossing over his chest as he gave the other one raised, sceptical eyebrow. "...what is it?"

"Are you doing anything at the moment?"

Probably not. He didn't seem occupied, so he was probably some lazy kid expecting a free ride.

It was time to ruin his dreams.

Sam had decided that for his hard work guarding the warehouse, he deserved a little something special. Even if nothing had happened on his night, Sam had still stayed up all night looking out for thieves. This was why he was now headed for his room with a large pile of sweets in his arms. It wasn't considered stealing if he was part of the crew, right?

von Karma caught something out of the corner of his eye while watching the scenery-something on the deck. On closer inspection, it wasn't any of those... things, but...

"...what are you doing?"

Sam stopped and shifted his arm so he didn't drop anything. Hey, it was an old man, not that he could talk. The one Gintoki had claimed had arthritis.

"I'm going to my room."

"Did you even ask for that?"

Somehow, von Karma doubted it. He probably shouldn't have cared, but really, when people didn't even try to get away with things...

The captain had told Mitsuru to remain behind as back-up, and she took that order seriously. So she was waiting on deck, sword at her side, evoker on her belt, prepared for the first sign of trouble. It was difficult - she was too used to being one of the ones taking charge and moving in to get things done, so waiting was hard, but it was something she would have to learn to deal with.

Well, nothing of any importance had happened so far. This was probably good, but it left von Karma feeling somewhat restless, as at the very back of his mind he felt vaguely useless. He probably should have gone to the negotiations, but... well...

He headed for another part of the deck, hoping for a better vantage point. Of course... someone was already there.

"Anything out of the ordinary?"

Mitsuru straightened herself up just a touch when she saw the weapons master approaching. This was one of the times she definitely wanted to make a good impression. "Nothing so far, sir. Everyting is as it should be." There was just the smallest hint of frustration there - it wasn't that she wanted something bad to happen, but she wasn't used to inaction.

"I see," said von Karma, sounding almost vaguely disappointed. Almost. "I suppose that's good, then."

He paused.

"Hmph. The negotiations are taking too long for my tastes."

He would have had it settled in three minutes.
