In Edgar's beige-clad arms rested what must have been the hostage. But there must have been some mistake -- as the bodyguards drew closer, it became increasingly obvious that the "girl" wasn't human. In fact, it was a rather scraggly dog of the tiny, yappy variety. "Lydia" seemed very unconcerned with her situation, yawning as the Convoy party approached and shifting in Edgar's arms.
"Lydia!" Mr. Ecksworthy cried, tears in his eyes. "Give her back!"

See, she had requested the bodyguard position for a reason. It wasn't just to get a second shot at those thieves - though she was a bit pumped for a rematch, after they had escaped during her team's shift. But she had a thing for defending and rescuing people, and so she wanted to be right on the front lines to help rescue the CEO's daughter.
Except... well... yeah. This was ridiculous.

The Minibot wondered idly if the furry organic thought all this strange. Assumptions, naturally (it had seemed), were that the individual in question was a human child, offspring of the fretting man.
It was heartening to know that there were at least some humans who held as much esteem for a demihuman as they would for one of their own species.

She knew that if she could not hear them, they probably would not be able to hear them. Even if they did, what did hex care? it'd be more exciting that way. "Bumblebee, dear," she asked in a voice that was quiet but still contained its usual creepiness factor. "What is going on?"

"Well . . . our party's just arrived, and from Chie and Yukiko's reactions, I'd say things aren't quite what they expected." He paused to shift and look back at her briefly. "The hostage, Lydia, is a small . . . I think she's a dog."

"It is a dog." He couldn't help the soft snicker that escaped him.

What sucked was the waiting. He wasn't a man with a lot of patience, after all. But he'd stay still, shifting position every so often and toying with his pocket watch as he waited for further instructions.

"Something wrong?"

The thought of going up against something that could suck his blood and dazzle him at the same time unsettled him. Al was naturally disturbed by things he couldn't explain. He chuckled.
"Just waitin' for the word to go is enough to make anyone restless."

"All I see down there is one of them holding a dog."

However even if they didn't he was ready to try and protect her. And to prove that, his jacket was off and his revolver and it's holster were attached to his right arm.

She over towards Rock, who was kind of near her. He seemed nervous. "Are you alright?"

"Well, there's no trouble so far," she murmured. "I don't think there's too much to worry about - at least, not yet."
Reply
"O-of course!"

Of all the things that could happen... the man thought in exasperation as he fiddled with his eyepatch. This trip to Garettstown had been nothing but somewhat depressing, to put it mildly - for one this was the first time he had come back ever since that incident, and for another... those sparkling demihumans sure knew how to cause quite the ruckus. It had only been a few months since he left, but somehow now it felt like a lifetime ago. So much had happened since then... Pip ( ... )

"Mister Bernadette," she said as she strode up, her gaze almost as steely as her armor. "May I have a word with you?"

Glancing towards her, the mercenary gave her a look that was somewhere between neutrality and the slightest tinge of something else that couldn't be put into words as he replied. "Yeah, what is it?"
Reply
"I wanted...to apologize."
