Meeting with Prime flightofthe May 19 2010, 04:05:48 UTC
Bee made his way to the door of the bridge without incident. This was a Very. Good. Thing. If nothing else, it meant he hadn't lost his touch. Not that he'd been worried about that, of course.

Primus only knew he'd been getting enough practice at prowling around lately.

Prowl . . . Primus, I miss him sometimes . . .

Doggedly, the Minibot shoved that thought from his processor. Now was not the time for nostalgia. He had a report to give . . . and then a date with a wash rack! Boy was he looking forward to that! But first thing's first. Reporting in with Prime.

He forewent audible speech and accessed his internal . . . they called similar technology "difference engines" nowadays, though he wasn't sure what they were different from. Never mind. He filtered the comment to Prime along. "Optimus Prime, it's Bumblebee. I'm coming in." With that, he let himself into the bridge.

Roger that. Welcome back, Bumblebee.

The older, taller mech had been seated in the captain's chair, going through the reports of what the guards had seen. This whole incident was strange. They were stealing the crystals, but not selling them anywhere. He couldn't be sure that they weren't incorporating the crystals into other devices and smuggling them out. He'd need Bumblebee for that kind of surveillance. The radio operator's return wasn't a moment too soon.

Prime stood up as the door opened. "What did you find?" he asked aloud, cutting straight to the chase.

Bumblebee paused just inside the door so that it would shut behind him, straightening to give a proper salute. "Optimus Prime."

He crossed to the nearest console. "Quite a bit, as a matter of fact, though I'm not sure how much of it is actually useful to us." To a point, it was the young agent's job to filter any extraneous data, but he brought back anything questionable in case his inexperience ignored something that might actually prove vital. He continued to learn strategy and and tactics and all those sorts of things, but until he had a better handle on them, he let his Prime make the final decision on what to keep and what to toss.

Letting a fingertip separate and peel back to expose the portjack within, he connected with the console and let the data fill the monitor for his commander to peruse.

Yeaaaaaaah fellow radio ops goooo. hushthenoise May 19 2010, 13:45:05 UTC
For once, Neku actually wasn't hauling himself up in the brig like he usually did - with Bumblebee gone, the orange-head was forced to take more shifts than normal with that other person (whoever it was anyway). The teenager really didn't mind that all much, but he was a bit annoyed at how the robot constantly seem to just appear and disappear at random. He had already been on the ship for a while, and it had already seemed to happened more than enough times for Neku to start being a little bit cranky about it.

Just because you're a robot too doesn't mean you get special treatment, he thought to himself sullenly (and maybe a little bit irritably) as he fiddled with the knobs on the radios idly - there really wasn't anything to do with most of the crew busy with the mission and all, plus the reception wasn't exactly the best around here too which meant that his usual radio channels were fuzzy at best. All in all, life was once again doing nothing but making him frustrated.

In the end, it was just as usual in his normal life, really.

Bumblebee had finally gotten that much-needed wash and even a good stasis nap in his recharge berth. He'd taken canisters of liquid energon with him, had powered down into a modified stasis whenever he could, and he was far more fuel-efficient than any of his brethren had ever been, so it wasn't like he'd been hurting for power even for as long as he'd been gone this time, but there was nothing like a full recharge in the safety of his own room. He didn't mind operating alone in the field, possibly in enemy territory, but it wasn't something he exactly preferred either.

Feeling refreshed, the Minibot figured he'd better check in at the radio room. He half-hoped the other, newer operator was the one on duty at the moment. Neku was sullen on a good day and worse whenever Bee first got back from a mission. Not that the mech blamed him at all, of course - he probably would have been too in the human's place, not knowing why his coworker was always taking off. He tried to tell Neku when he would be gone, but he didn't always have a ( ... )

Neku had been somewhat busy trying to tune into a radio channel that actually worked when Bumblebee stepped into the room - it wasn't that all hard to notice him, especially with him being all yellow and kind of bulky (the fact that he was only four feet tall was a bit of a comfort; he wouldn't know what to do if the robot had been as tall as the captain himself, and he was freakishly tall).

As sullen as ever, the teenager only acknowledged his co-worker's appearance with a brief sound that was somewhere between a 'hmph' and a 'hn'. Well, look who's all bright and cherry after returning from Nowheresville again. Seriously, what was this guy up to half the time anyway? Disappearing like that constantly was really starting to get on his nerves, especially when it cut into his personal time (most of which was spent in the brig).

The little mech suppressed a wince at the non-reaction. Yep, Neku was upset. Again. Cycling air through his vents in a soft sigh, he stepped into the room. "Sorry, Neku. Really wasn't expecting to have been gone for so long." He glanced at the control panels, bright azure optics flickering softly. "Anything going on right now?"

Quentyn sat up on a crate, carving a club-like piece of wood with a smaller glowing piece of...well it was hard to tell what it was. The item glowed a soft green and left glowing green marks in the wood. He paused with a sigh. Making whakadus took a little more effort outside of home as any Lux used took twice as long to replenish.

He sat back and looked around, giving himself a bit of a break and trying not to use up too much of his Lux at once. That's when he spotted the yellow...robot? He'd seen Prime, so he wasn't overly shocked, but...but this one was small compared. Not that he could talk, it still looked to be twice his size. Still if the other looked his way he'd raise a hand and give a friendly wave and smile.

Bumblebee wandered up onto the open deck of the ship, enjoying a cool breeze that blew over his superstructure. The longer missions tended to make him more nervous, and he was always thankful to return home safely.

After a moment of gazing out over the railing, he turned to scan the rest of the deck and immediately spotted . . . well, it was organic, small and furry like an animal, but sitting upright, using tools and wearing clothes. Then it gave him a grin and wave. He returned the friendly gestures and crossed to meet the creature, offering his hand once he was within reach.

"Hi! I'm Bumblebee. You new to the ship?"

To his credit, Quentyn could never be considered skittish. His smile grew and he accepted the offered hand, slipping his tiny paw into it to give as firm a shake as he was able too. "Yup. Name's Quentyn, it's nice to meet you, Bumblebee." He couldn't help but think the name was a little odd, but who was he to comment, really?

He moved his tools and the club and shifted over a bit, offering an open spot on the crate for Bumblebee to sit if he wanted.

"Oh, thanks!" The mech took the offered seat. "So you a crew member or passenger?" Bumblebee would have preferred to hide until he knew which, but as he'd already been spotted, he figured he'd best make the best of this.

He really hoped Quentyn was a crewmate.

Hughes walked the ship. So far the place had been safe, as he'd been assured, still he couldn't help but worry. The incident with the witch still haunted him, though he'd never really make a big deal of it. He wanted to make sure the place was indeed safe, and besides he had to keep an eye out for any needed repairs, it was his job after all. And so he wondered the decks, friendly and open to any he came across.

Like I'd complain. XD flightofthe May 19 2010, 15:05:48 UTC
Bumblebee headed back down from the deck and turned a corner to spot another person he didn't recognize, a human this time. He fought the urge to duck back around the corner to avoid getting spotted without his disguise. He grimaced to himself, even as he already knew it usually took him a solar cycle or two to decompress after a mission. Besides, this section wasn't open to passengers so the man had to be one of the crew members.

He made himself step out farther and offer a grin and wave.

You better not. ^__~ fatherofcute May 19 2010, 15:45:13 UTC
Hughes paused. Well...that was unusual. Yes, he'd seen the captain, and he wasn't sure he'd ever get used to seeing the giant robot, but he'd never expected to see a smaller one too. At the grin and wave Hughes offered one of his own.

"Hello there. I'm guessing your part of the crew? I'm Hughes. Maes Hughes, one of the new boatswains." Without hesitation he stepped up to the other and offered a hand in friendly greeting.

Bumblebee took the hand without hesitation, mindful of the strength of his grip. He was much smaller than a human, but still notably stronger. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Hughes. I'm called Bumblebee, and yeah, I'm a crew member. Radio operator." Among other things, but Hughes didn't need to know that.

He tilted his head at a thought. "Have you met the captain yet? Optimus Prime?" He meant to segue into the whole don't-tell-anyone-about-us issue rather than just bring it up outright.

Most likely, if there is any worry over where Alfred is missing or vanished to, he can be found in the kitchen.

This was one of those times.

He hummed a bit to himself as he fished through the fridge, gathering materials to make himself a sandwich.

of course!!! =D flightofthe May 23 2010, 04:19:10 UTC
Bumblebee meandered down the hall, being careful listen for anyone around before he might encounter them. He would likely be like this for at least a week, until he was sure who were crewmates and who were passengers. He'd have to hide from the passengers, but the crewmates - those who knew the truth of their captain could know him too.

He heard sounds in the kitchen. Now who . . . The mech peeked in. Well, not one of the cooks, but not likely a passenger, so had to be a crewmate. He cleared the doorframe more fully, giving a friendly grin and wave. "Hi."

The voice from the doorway caused him to abruptly stop humming, though the raiding of the fridge didn't stop until he grabbed what he needed. Just a few seconds more, really. He straightened up and shut the door and set it on the counter, turning and smiling brightly to the 'person' in the doorway. Honestly, considering who he was and who he worked for, seeing him was hardly surprising.

Actually, he found it amazing.

"Hey! What's up? Do ya want anything?" As he occupied kitchen space forever but then he realized. "...That is, errr... if you eat. It's cool if you don't."

The little yellow mech snickered, holding up both hands as he approached. "Not the same way you do, I'm afraid. Thanks, though. My name's Bumblebee. I'm a radio op for the ship. Are you one of the new crew?" He offered a hand as he spoke.
