She was nervous, she always was around new people, but at least the woman didn't seem hostile. She had moved in high society enough to notice what the woman's clothes indicated, and that made her even more wary. Many of the girls at her exclusive school hadn't been nice. Sharp, spoiled and entitled, to say they hadn't gotten along would be an understatement. Still, this woman seemed far more polite. Perhaps in her simple cook's clothing Anthy would be non-threatening and beneath her notice.

Jennifer's polite face warmed into a geniuine smile as she laid eyes on the young woman that she had bumped into. Taking her book back with a politely muttered 'thank you', she held out a delicate, petite hand with an expression of near delight at meeting someone new on the ship.
"How do you do? I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting. I'm Ambassador Jennifer Walters, lately a passenger here on the Serenity."

"How nice to meet you," Anthy responded in the same polite and well-breed tone. "My name is Anthy. I'm one of the cooks."
Her smile was as calm and passive as ever, but secretly, in the corner of her mind which dealt with such things, the word 'ambassador' was alarming. She tried to put it out of her thoughts. This Jennifer person was still unlikely to have known her brother, and she seemed safer and nicer than some of the other crew aboard Serenity.

Jennifer reached up and pushed a strand of auburn hair back behind her ear with a graceful gesture. "A cook? What a wonderful skill. I will admit to being envious right now. I have absolutely no idea how to make anything but toast."

And speaking of running into...
The Jaeger staggered only a half-step, more just startled than actually off-balance at all. On reflex, he caught her by an upper arm to help steady her just in case. "Oy! Hyu hokay, miss?" Letting her go, he gave her a bit, friendly-but-alarmingly-toothy grin and a dismissive wave. "Oh, no, eet'z hokay. Hy'z clumsy too. Hy'z Oggie," he added when he realized he didn't recognize the young woman, and he stuck out a claw-tipped hand.

"Nice to meet you Oggie." She replied, taking his claw tipped hand with her own slender hand, soft and delicate as it was. "I'm Ambassador Jennifer Walters, please call me Jennifer though."
She straightened her sleeve gently, and smiled at him again. "Thank you for the steadying hand. I'm afraid I was so engrossed in my book that I was not watching where I was walking. Dimo mentioned there were other Jagers aboard, I'm very pleased to meet you, Oggie."

He stooped and snatched up her book, only putting small poked holes in a few pages from his claws as he handed it back to her. "Vhat hyu reading?"

"Thank you. It's poetry. About a woman in a fantasy land who was cursed to never look at the world or she would die. She decides it is more important to know what is out there than to live a sheltered life, and turns away from her secluded tower, only to fall in love with a man she cannot have and die. It's very lovely, if not a little tragic and sentimental." Jennifer explained, marking her place in the book with a purple ribbon, holding it against her stomach with both hands.
