Characters: Harry Dresden and OPEN Content: Harry's looking for work and he hears that the docks are the place to find it. Setting: Abantiare and Serenity Time: May 6. Morning Warnings: None really. Save for maybe some language?
Abantiare wasn't the best place to go and look for a present for a lady friend, but it was far from the worst, either. Though he doubted that they'd have anything that really reminded him of Anthy here, he'd still look at a few of the shops. There might be something hidden away in a corner, or something that he could intimidate someone into giving him.
As he ducked under the door and came out into the morning sun, or at least what there was of it here, the Jaeger's attention was drawn to the tall man who seemed to be staring right at him and at the ship. "Hoy, hyu dere!" he called out, strolling down the gangplank and onto the dock. "Vhat hyu looking at?" Dimo's yellow eyes took in the dust that clung to Dresden's clothing. "Been on de road for a vhile?"
So sorry. Very, very busy this weekendno_love_potionsMay 10 2010, 00:48:27 UTC
Harry's attention was pulled away from admiring the vessel by the voice calling out to him. Well, it was only a matter of time until one of the crew glanced out and spotted him staring at their boat although it was a good sign that the stranger didn't seem that suspicious or angry about it.
"Only since my whole life." Harry answered the second question, glancing down at his dust-covered clothes. To be fair though, most of it was from the grit in Abantiare's air. He looked back up at Serenity, giving the ship another appreciative glance. "You don't see many classic boats like this flying around anymore. She yours?"
"Nah, she ain't mine," Dimo said with a laugh. "I iz just zome of de muscle vhat vorks on de boat. De Captain's off elzevhere right now, getting our cargo." It was good to see a fellow wanderer, and even better to think that Serenity might be able to give the fellow a home, at least for a while. A place to stay, if not always belong, was important.
"Hyu looking for a job? Ve might have vork for zomevun vhat does magic, I tink." That staff was definitely not just for the looks. "Vhat zorts of tings can hyu do?"
Harry's eyebrows went up when the stranger correctly called him out on his magic. His eyes glanced over to the staff in his hand, recognizing it as what probably gave him away and he found his initial assessment of the other man going up a few notches. He'd picked the fellow out as hired muscle easily enough but he'd just proven he had brains to go with brawn... not a bad combination as long as you were on the same side.
"Good eye." He murmured and turned back to the man. "I've got a few tricks. Mostly thaumaturgical related, tracking and identification spells mostly, but I can toss a few fireballs around if things get nasty. And as a matter of fact I was thinking about looking for something a little more stable... the solo act isn't paying the bills too well anymore."
