"Ken-chan!"

Yachiru raced out of the shack, barefoot even in the February cold. Her shoes were too annoying sometimes, really. Tackling her giant, she grinned up at him and climbed onto his shoulders. "Y'back!"

"Yep, I'm back," he said. "An' I've got a present for ya. Come on, let's go inside. It's cold out here."

"Kay!"

Yachiru wrapped her arms around Kenpachi's neck, fighting back a yawn. It was almost her naptime, but if Ken-chan had a present, she wanted to be awake!

He carried her inside, ducking his head so he wouldn't hit it on the low doorframe, and closed the door behind him, stuffing a few rags in the cracks around the door to keep it warmer. "Here ya go, kid," he said, handing her the present. "Happy birthday."
