It had only really been by chance that Hijikata had been happening to pass by the kitchens, really. There hadn't been much to do, and with nothing else to do the man had just decided that a patrol would do him some good - it was better than being cooped up in his room anyway with a mutt and a pig and a kitten bothering him to death.

Still, the quite delicious aroma had attracted his attention, and the samurai came up to see the one and only Flynn Scifo cooking in the kitchens - which was odd for the dark-haired man. He had never figured the knight to be a cook...

"...Scifo," came the somewhat awkward start as Hijikata took a few steps closer towards where the other was and allowed himself to look t the dish that he was whipping up. "Never figured you one for the cooking type."

Flynn looked up at the sound of his name, just as he was using some pot holders to pick up his stew. Turning and smiling he was, for the moment, the image of harmless domestic bliss. Funny when one thought of the oh-so serious young man in the silver armor.

"Hijikata! I'm surprised to see you here. Are you hungry?" He walked towards the counter, placing the bubbling pot down. "It's a hobby of mine."

Hobby, huh. The samurai gave the pot a glance, nose twitching just a little as the rather aromatic scent of food drifted towards him. He had to admit, for a hobby the knight seemed pretty good for this. Maybe he should have just opened a cooking shop or something; then he wouldn't have seen him and things would have been so much better.

...that thought aside, Hijikata gave himself a moment to look at the food, debate the options in his head (he hadn't really eaten, if he had to be honest...) before he finally responded. "...just a little, I suppose." No harm in taking some food now, was there?

Flynn nodded, as if this was all expected. If Hijikata had said no, he probably would have dished him out a bowl anyway. He knew how Navy officers tended to be: they were all self-absorbed in some way or another. Some, like Hijikata and himself just tended to aim that absorbtion into something productive. So he doubted the older man was eating as well as he could be.

So he snagged a bowl, filling it and passing it along. It had a lot of potato and a vague brown-red color.

Katsura was finicky when it came to food--the lieutenant commander had, over the years, developed his own rather restrictive diet he preferred to stick to rather than partaking of whatever was provided in the mess--which meant he was hardly a foreign entity in the kitchen. He was, however, somewhat unused to seeing other members of the crew preparing their own meals.

Which meant finding Flynn in the kitchen was a bit of an anomaly, and enough to bring Katsura to a halt, blinking in a somewhat perplexed manor at the blond. "Ah... hello," he offered by way of greeting, eying the stove-top with some suspicion.

Flynn glanced over before nodding. he hadn't met this man yet, so it was prudent to be on his best behavior. He knew most of the -names- on the ship due to the briefing he had received before hand... faces were something else though.

"Sir. Would you like some?"

"I don't usually eat anything I haven't prepared myself," he admitted, still eying Flynn's cooking. "But I would be willing to make an exception. What is it you're making?"

He was trying to be friendly, though he wasn't usually the outgoing sort. It was good to bond a little with your crewmates, after all.

He relaxed a little, spooning out some of the...stuff... he was making. It was a thick red-brown color, and smelled wonderful... but very strong.

"It's a stew with meat and potatoes." Flynn replied, handing the bowl over and looking hopeful.

Edgeworth walked down the corridor, his pace slower and more stilted than usual, and his usual expression of calm disdain replaced with one of dazed irritation. The dreams had gotten worse lately, and would only continue to do so as he approached the new year. He tried to compensate with a short, brief nap, but it still wasn't enough; it only left him groggy and even more tired than before he went to sleep.

I think he said to himself, I need some tea. So, without further ado, he trudged toward the kitchens in search of some hot water. Soon, though, he smelled something wonderful. Why, he hadn't caught whiff of anything so heavenly since Bonnefoy left the ship! The scent was just enough to make his weary mind sharp and alert, and he walked forward, curious to see what was being made.

The sounds of footsteps weren't surprising anymore. he hadn't expected so many people to stop by while he was cooking. Hell, he had chosen this time of day so he wouldn't be in the way of the cooks. He wasn't complaining, but it was a surprise.

An even bigger surprise once he saw who it was. All the Knights knew who Miles Edgeworth was, after all.

"Commander!" he yelped in slight shock, saluting without thinking and rubbing some of the stew into his hair with the ladle he had been holding.

Edgeworth stared at Flynn for a moment before he sighed and raised his hand. Honestly, the man looked like he just saw a ghost.

"At ease," he said, with a hint of exasperation in his voice. "What are you doing in here, anyway?"

Flynn let his hand fall, only then realizing he had a splotch of the red stew in his hair. With a slight turn of color on his face he made his way to the sink, splashing water up to clean it off.

"Cooking, Sir. Would you like some?"

Celes had been hoping to slip into the kitchen unnoticed, grab a meal, and take it back to her desk. She had managed to do this every day since being reassigned here. This time, however, she heard noises and voices coming from the kitchen. She was ready to turn around and go back, but her stomach started rumbling as she smelled the delicious scent wafting down the hall. She had never been one for fancy, or even flavorful, food just as long as a meal had the proper nutrients, that was all that mattered.

As hard as she tried, she couldn't quite come up with a good enough reason why she shouldn't eat something that had already been made when she was already here. Afterall, she was hungry. She walked to the kitchen doorway and knocked on the door frame.

“Is there enough for one more?” she asked.

Flynn jumped slightly, then recognized the voice. He smiled, waving the woman over. "More then enough, Miss Chere!" He greeted. He only wished he had realized how many people would show up at the smell of cooking food. Didn't the cooks here work at all?

"I hope you like stew."

She couldn't remember ever having eaten stew, but surely she had, at least once in her life. She didn't want to lie, yet this seemed like a situation where she one answered affirmatively, no matter what the real answer was.

As she walked into the kitchen she replied, "It smells delicious, thank you".
