Gippal felt like dirt. His head ached, hell, his whole body ached. Throat felt like it'd been scrubbed with a metal brush. There was coughing, so much coughing, he just knew he was going to bruise from banging into the bed so much. And the fever-- up and down, bringing on crazy dreams, and waking him up soaked from a sweat.

Yeah, this was miserable.

So when Rikku came in, like an angel of mercy, he smiled, even though it brutalized his face. Unlucky for him, talking hurt too so all he got out was a soft grunt of a greeting.

Oh geez. He was worse than she thought. Rikku had never known Gippal to not make a comment when she walked in a room. For him to only manage a grunt...

"Hey, Gippy," she said, whispering. "Y'hungry? I brought soup."

Food? Now things were starting to look up. He may be sick, but his stomach's still working, and hungry guy has a pretty hefty appetite.

"I think I died and went to heaven," he croaked out. Mostly over the food. But c'mon, a cute nursemaid was hard to turn away.

Rikku grinned as she sat down next to Gippal. "No, heaven for you would have more booze and more girls," she teased softly. "C'mon, I can't prop you up myself, and you don't wanna have soup lying down." She put her hands under his arms for support, but she hadn't been lying when she said she couldn't prop him up.
