Giovanni hadn't been expecting much in the first place, but... this room was a little smaller than even that. He supposed he could find some other ship, but he'd already put the money into this one.

Well, he supposed it'd have to do. There was enough room for Beedrill, at least, and the bed seemed... alright. He'd been in worse, and it was likely that he'd be able to fix most things other than the size later.

And, as it turned out, Giovanni's room had enough for uninvited guests, too. Suddenly, Toto was there, seated comfortably on the bedside table just slightly out of the usual field of vision. This guy... he was a newcomer. Maybe a collector like him, but a weak one to need a creature hanging around him. He reminded Toto of... who, again?

But he had no idea what the creature was, and watched it curiously, head tilted to the side.

Beedrill, which was currently resting in the corner, tilted its head back at Toto. It didn't look angry or territorial, just... vaguely confused. Giovanni was mostly preoccupied with unpacking; however, once he noticed that something had caught Beedrill's attention, he paused and turned enough that he was sure he wasn't seeing things.

This was... vaguely unsettling. He assumed the room he'd taken was empty... perhaps the captain had gotten the number wrong?

Well, it was best to be polite about it. It'd be counterproductive to make enemies, especially when he had more important things to focus on.

"Ah, excuse me," he said, turning to fully face the boy and scratching the back of his head. "This isn't your room, is it?"

Toto broke out in a wide smile, turning his gaze on the newcomer. Polite. The only ones who had been polite were the weak humans. Shaking his head, he replied cheerfully, swinging his legs, "It's not! ☆"

He lightly hopped down from the bedside table. "Hey..." he began, taking on a slightly more serious look, "Can something like that," his gaze slid over to the creature in the corner before returning to the man again, "really protect you?"

The nice thing about having someone fund the repairs to the ship was that it meant there were hired workers to do all the large-scale fixes. Which left Souji free to worry about the smaller maintenance problems that had popped up as a result of their scuffle with the Victoria II. At the moment, he was busy in one of the hallways, working inside a wall where one of the steam pipes had sprung a leak. There was a ring of tools surrounding him on the floor, while much of the mechanic's upper body had disappeared into the open panel in the wall as he searched around for the source.

Toto sometimes liked to look at the pipes on the ship, especially the many down in the engine room. They reminded him of somewhere, some place located in the many blanks in his memory. A secret place. Why? Was it important? He remembered it, so maybe it was.

When he observed one of the mechanics working on repairs, Toto vaguely recalled seeing this one around the engine from time to time. Silently moving over to squat down near the mechanic, Toto carefully placed himself in the perfect position to give the mechanic a surprise when he removed himself from the open panel. He made sure to have his best wide eyed, innocent face on.

He was going to have to take this section of pipe out in order to fix it properly, it seemed. When he finally extracted himself long enough to make a grab at one of his tools, Souji ended up face to face with his silent observer, which was enough to startle the mechanic into bumping his head on the edge of the opening in the wall. Wincing a little, he straightened up, giving Toto a confused look.

"Ah... hello?" He didn't recognize the person, but it was possible they'd picked up some new crew since they'd docked.

Toto tilted his head to the side and averted his eyes, a hand on his chin as if in deep thought. Suddenly, he perked up and blinked in the mechanic's direction before suddenly saying, "Who are you?"

Maxim had been deemed well enough to come back to quarters from the infirmary, and Dimo was busy making the room hospitable. That mostly meant taking the dirty clothes that had been sitting around since before the battle down to the ship's rudimentary laundry, as well as little things like making the bed and occasionally just smiling to himself at the thought of having company in the room again. Oggie was definitely good company, but...it just wasn't the same as having his lover there.

Just as he was bending over to scoop the last dirty sock into the basket next to him, Dimo heard the sound of someone in the room with him. But where in the hell were they? The closet doors were open, and there wasn't anyone under the bed. Or was there?

Sometimes, Toto just had a way of hiding in plain sight. But at times like these, where he didn't have a particular care for staying hidden, he didn't bother with even trying to not get spotted. When Dimo's back was turned, Toto moved out of his hiding place to a location in the room near the door; a small measure of precaution in such a confined location. But as he did so, he purposefully made a small scuffing sound to draw Dimo's attention.

Slowly turning toward the source of the sound, Dimo sniffed the air in the room. Yes, there was definitely the scent of someone strange in the room. Why hadn't he noticed it before? The only excuse that he was willing to let himself have was that he'd been distracted by his concerns for his pack members. He'd have to watch that.

Looking directly at the door now, Dimo noticed the small, pale figure hiding near it. "Hello?" he asked cautiously, taking a step forward. His knives were nearby if he needed them. "Who's dere?"

Ah ha ☆ He was that kind of hunter. Toto himself didn't track people in the same way, but there had been little point when the only scent had been blood and death back then.

Toto made himself look as unthreatening as possible, smiling up at Dimo. He gave Dimo a cheerful grin, pointing at himself, "Don't worry, I'm not gonna do anything bad."

Oggie was on his way to the kitchen from the infirmary - it was his turn to bring back food for his pack. He was whistling a loud and very off-key tune - though it sounded just fine to him - he movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention.

Toto had also been heading to the infirmary; one too many sudden movements and his wrist had started to tear at the stitches around his wrist. It wasn't too impairing... yet. This body really was far too fragile.

He heard someone's approach long before they came into sight, but Toto didn't bother hiding. Instead, when he'd been spotted, Toto put on a deer-in-the-headlights look, before he said, "Ah! You found me."

Oggie pulled up short, a confused look on his face. "Hy did? Vas Hy lookink for hyu?" No . . . no, he'd been heading out for the kitchen. That's right. Still, this was someone he didn't recognize. He'd thought he'd met everyone by now. Oh, well.

Oggie put on a grin. "Hokay, Hy'll play. I found you!" He looked pleased with himself, then stuck out a hand. "Hy'z Oggie. Vhat'z hyu name?" Then he noticed the wound, and he frowned in concern. "Vhat heppened to hyu? Hyu look like Maxim chust got his hand beck und vasn't careful to let it heal op."

It took Toto a moment to mentally sift through the accent, but the offered hand was indication enough of Oggie's intention. Toto took the hand without hesitation and shook it, his grip firm, before letting go. "Toto Sakigami. The Mockingbird."

Toto allowed a look of geniune surprise at the question cross his face. It was a little strange being asked about injuries; he only remembered that everyone assumed injuries were from being attacked. That was the only real way to get hurt back... where? He sidestepped the question. "This body is weak; it tears so easily. Is Maxim like this, too?"

have another Jäger! XD causink_trouble November 15 2009, 06:55:54 UTC
Jenka, unlike Maxim, wasn't really recovered enough to leave the infirmary, but Mamma knew better than to make her sleep with a room with people. That would definitely not be good for anyone's health.

So, the Jäger was back in her cabin, trying to change the dressing on her wounds. (and no, she was not supposed to be doing that, but she knew the medics had quite enough work as it was, and she was used to doing things herself). There was rather a lot of them, and she wasn't very coordinated - between the damage, the battledraught and Dimo's booze, it was a miracle she was still conscious - so it was slow work.

Strangely, she was smiling.

Injuries were an almost foreign concept to Toto. There had only been one time. and once was enough for him. But humans (though some of the 4423's crew weren't quite human) were most beautiful when they were hurt.

Toto was also in Jenka's cabin, leaning against the door frame with a wide grin on his face. He asked her cheerfully, "Did you have fun?"

causink_trouble November 16 2009, 05:03:23 UTC
Even injured, Jenka had half-consciously noticed another presence in her cabin - she would have been dead centuries ago if she was any less observant. A tendency to apply her old hunting habits to human interactions prevented the Jäger from letting herself show any reaction that would betray that awareness. Only when he spoke, she raised her head to look at him, with no sign of surprise. "Oh, lots" she grinned sharply.

"How about hyu?" She had no idea who the boy was or where he came from, but the potential trouble to the ship didn't worry her in the least. And if she felt like talking about enjoyable things with this stranger, what of it?

Toto laughed and clapped his hands together once, face the picture of a child enjoying himself. "Oh, yes! I'm happy there was so much love being shown!" Taking on a slightly more serious expression, he said with a grin curling the corner of his mouth upwards, "Maybe you'll show me more?"
