On the top deck, Harry was fiddling with his journal, trying to perfect a way of writing with it without it randomly blinking out on him. So far he hadn't caused any real damage to the machine, but the battries weren't doing so well.

Every time...

He growled at it, pondering just chucking the damn thing off the side of the ship. Some random street kid would get more out of it than him at this point. He even had it in hand, arm reached back to throw, when he saw the man approching the ship.

Now he was pretty new, having just joined on in this port, but he really didn't reconize this guy. He watched the man carefully, brow arched.

'Just my luck. How am I supposed to know if he's crew or not?' He frowned, hand touching the staff strapped to his back, just in case things got nasty. They always seemed to.

Carol had been helping with some of the repairs when she noticed one of the new crew members about to throw his journal overboard, but then suddenly change his mind and put his hand on the staff that was on his back.

Carol wondered if he possibly saw someone, or something threatening. She just hoped it wasn't another damned whale or something like it. She stood beside him and saw Al talking to apparently an acquaintance of his.

"Are you expecting trouble? Seems like they're just talking to me," she smiled and figured she might as well introduce herself since she didn't recognize him, "My name's Carol by the way."

Harry jumped slightly, turning on his heel when a voice snuck up on him. But when he saw it was one of his crewmates, and NOT another random nasty after his blood he relaxed. The mage coughed lightly, trying to play it off as he took his hand off his staff.

It was a woman. A very tall, attractive, blonde. Harry felt his chest tighten, and a smile appeared on his face. Of course the first person to approch him on this ship would be a woman. He was just lucky that way.

"Paranoia is just another of my defining traints, espesially when talking armors involved. It's a curse, I know. Carol, huh? Names Harry Dresden. I'm the new Navigator."

Carol smiled as he jumped skittish much?

"It's nice to meet you. I'm one of the strategists on board, and don't worry a lot of people are paranoid really, some can just hide it better. The armor's Al, he's the blacksmith, the other guy I'm not so sure about, but apparently Al's friends with him."

Ah, and there he was, the man of the hour. Hughes gave him a short wave, and said, "You know how it is with business, Alphonse. You travel to all sorts of interesting places, and get tied down to all sorts of paperwork. But!" Hughes stretched, and shaded his eyes with his free hand as he looked over the Winding Way.

"Now that I've got the deal finished, I've got some free time. It'll be nice traveling on a ship without worrying about work." He grinned at Alphonse, and said, "Mind showing me around before I get settled in?"
