Itou hadn't really meant to visit the former (hmm, nice word) first mate, but staying out of trouble in a ship where everything was going wrong seemed to be a harder job than he had first anticipated. Everything that could go wrong in the ship was going wrong, and he had abandoned his usual haunts in favor of locating a safer place to stay. That, eventually, had brought him to Edgeworth's quarters and...

Well, why not? He was supposed to be a staunch supporter of Kristoph, so he might as well go all the way and do what any best friend of Kristoph would do.

He knocked on the door.

And there was yet another person here to gawk at his misery. Well, Edgeworth tried to look on the positive side; at least now he had a door for people to knock on again. He took a deep breath, and said, "Come in."

If he was fortunate, the visitor would make this quick.

Itou stepped in with a small smile on his face, taking a moment to survey the room. For someone who had been demoted, Edgeworth didn't look too distraught. "Ah, I see that you're well, Commander."

While the demotion had been a serious blow, Edgeworth was taught to maintain his dignity no matter what. Dignity was but one of several stepping stones on the path to perfection, after all, and without perfection where would he be?

Trapped in my quarters and harassed by idiots day in and day out he answered himself bitterly. Edgeworth still managed to keep his cool, though; while he was hardly close to the navigator, their interactions, scant as they might have been, had been pleasant enough. He crossed his arms and, head still held high, said, "I'm doing as well as can be expected, Lieutenant Commander. Now, what did you need?"

He hadn't joined the Ivonan military to be a maidservant, damn it all! But orders were orders, after all, even if he couldn't remember exactly who had given them to him or why. The tea service was tiny in Vole's hands, and he held it steady on one palm as he rapped sharply on Edgeworth's door with the other hand.

Can't these people give him any peace? Clearly irritated, Edgeworth said, "Come in."

It took him a remarkable amount of restraint not to add "and make it quick" to the end.

With a clearly unamused expression on his face, Vole opened the door and entered the room. Hadn't he seen these particular quarters before? They seemed awfully familiar, though there hadn't been anyone in the room when he'd last seen it. Ah yes! This was one of the first ones that he'd inspected in his search for a place with higher ceilings. The man behind the desk, the former first mate, looked just about as thrilled about the day as he did.

"Hot tea, Sir," he rumbled, and set the serving tray down carefully on the edge of the desk. "De kitchen zaid eet should be de vay dot hyu likes eet."

Tea? Well, that was certainly unexpected. The surprise would have pleased Edgeworth...

...if not for the person delivering it. Edgeworth jerked back, before he clenched his fists and stared right at Vole. "And what are you doing here?"

This was not the least bit pleasing.

In fact it was anything but.

But surprisingly enough Chiri was taking it in a reasonable stride. Maybe her loyalty to von Karma and the knowledge that he didn't need madness right now kept her from going off the deep end and killing someone. Maybe coming back to her quarters to find the door ripped open and almost every other door on the ship just like it hadn't been enough to set her off. Or maybe it was the opposite, maybe it'd worn her out enough that she couldn't get angry. Maybe there was too much on her mind with the recent assassination attempt on Gavin.

...or maybe she had already snapped and this was just the calm before the inevitable storm.

Regardless, she was currently walking the halls, checking the extent of the damage (really?! Every door in the ship!?) and nearing Edgeworth's quarters. Nothing was with her; both the spade and Virtuvian the stunky had stayed in her quarters.

But boy did she want to dig more holes right now.

Chiri was hardly the only person displeased by this. Several crewmembers were downright furious, least of all Miles Edgeworth. He was sitting in his own quarters, sul-minding his own business, when some madman of a Jager ripped off his door! His door! This...this psychotic fool was running around, tearing up his ship, and damn it, he was going to get some answers!

Unfortunately, he wasn't supposed to be out; he was supposed to be confined to his quarters, just as the captain said. However, this didn't seem to stop him, and his punishment was temporarily forgotten in favor of his rage.

Chiri saw him as he came out. At first she merely stood still, after all they were his quarters and it was his right to come and go from them as he pleased, especially when a lunatic was ripping off all the doors.

...then she remembered that no, he's not supposed to leave his quarters at all right now!

"Commander Edgeworth!" she began, approaching him, "Return to your quarters this instant, or do you want to continue being on the Captain's bad side!?"
