Gwendal scowled at the soldiers and the absence of all their commanding officers. They were still in the captain's cabin, figuring out a strategy and keeping away from the cannon fire while the rest of them stood in the line of fire. He was surrounded by idiots, that what he decided right then.

"Everyone get a move on!!" He shouted. "They are already lined up and we haven't even finished setting up cannons!! Get your asses in line and MOVING!"

Sure, they all had their guns and swords, but they had to wait until boarding to use them. He spotted the young medic, who was not with the others, and growled. "Medic, get to your station, we don't have time for you to be looking around!"

He had been staring at the hole on the deck caused by a cannon ball, eyeing the trail of blood on one of the larger splinters but not finding the soldier the blood belonged to. "Y-yes, sir!" he said, jumping at the call and turning around with an awkward salute.

Watson pulled the rifle to his chest and continuing his run through the deck. On second thought, it would have been safer to go through the corridors below deck so he wouldn't be exposed to the planes dropping things from overboard, but he did not much fancy the thought of a cannon ball lodging itself in front of him.

Speaking of... a ball whistled through the air too close for comfort, and he dived behind the mast even as the thing hit the rails, skidded along the deck, hit the other side of rails in a shower of splinters, and promptly disappeared into the land below. Hopefully, they weren't on top of some settlement or another... "Sir, are you all right!" he called out, remembering the officer on deck with him and some dozen men.

Gwendal grunted as he used the barrier to move the mass of wood from him and the various soldiers in the vicinity, letting it go once it was safely away. "I'm fine, Medic, now go!"

He moved forward once the soldier's were set with the cannons and guns. "Fire at will! We cannt linger any longer, just fire as you see fit! Now!"

Where were the damned Captains?!

Watson skittered off as he was told and soon joined the rest of his team at the other end of the deck, a floor below it. His superior was just sending his comrades off in smaller groups to the various parts of the ship, with instructions to treat on the spot or bring back the injured to the infirmary nearby. Already he could see some of his fellow medics dragging and supporting injured men from below ( ... )

Except Gwendal didn't check on his men to physically heal them. He always did this to make sure moral was high. A battle like this, while won by them, was still devastating and hard on everyone. Soldiers were still lost, friends and family. This battle in particular was rather difficult. And so, Gwendal went by, making sure the soldiers were alright, straighting a few jackets here and there, retrieving swords and rifles, murmuring a few encouraging words to those who were falling.

It was his unofficial job and only his.

Watson soon saw what Gwendal meant, after the first dozen soldiers or so. He had assumed that the man was seeing to the crew's physical condition, but what he saw Gwendal doing was far more important. Despite his misgivings about his officer walking about while injured, he stood in admiration at the scene. Gwendal von Voltaire was a good man.

He did all that he could and walked back to Watson. He simply gave the man a clap on the shoulder and walked toward the infirmary, just like he promised he would. "Thank you, Watson."

"Yessir!" He snapped out of staring at that and continued following after the man. Not that the man couldn't do it himself, but orders were orders, and he worried about Gwendal's health. The deck was already clearing out of the injured, the able-bodied soldiers carrying their comrades down to the sickbay, and it would not go amiss for him to also head down there to assist them.
