Other windows? No, bad idea. That was predictable prey behavior. They would be watching all the windows now, and she would be escaping right into their hands. But her mind kept flicking back to them, and how badly she wanted to escape back into the darkness. It was easy to hide in the open air of the night, where there was alleys and trees and little nooks and crannies, a labyrinth of covers and escape routes. Hiding indoors was a very different story, for there was only a limited, enclosed area to hide in, and so it was only a matter of time before even the weakest of hunters could find what they sought, simply by combing the area until it was found. The only one who could escape straight from the heart of the enemy's nest was a greater hunter. And while there was no one who could rival a Shadow Dragon, the sheer number of enemies around her was enough to make her take heed ( ... )
