this is going to just be Maxim and Jenka for a while causink_trouble August 1 2009, 06:26:37 UTC
Once Jenka caught that jewelry request of Dimo's, she knew something was up, and it wasn't hard to fit the details together. And what details they were! Gorobei deserved a good drink tomorrow, for all his hard work. Jenka had just managed to get a glimpse of the two of them as they were leaving the ship, and Holy Heterodyne, those shoes!

The Gunsmoke was still just a guess, but they were heading in the right direction - and really, where else would they go to show off? Those outfits would be wasted in any other bar.

The Jäger finally managed to stifle her chuckling as she rounded the corner in search of Maxim. He had to see this, but she didn't want to spoil the shock for him. "Hyu" - she declared in a voice carrying absolute certainty, without even waiting for him to turn around - "iz goink to Gunsmoke vit me. Right now."

Just when Dimo thought that it was safe to take a sip from his frothy peach-flavored concoction, Maxim brought his hand down hard on his back. The mouthful of alcohol spewed across the table, most of it landing on the tablecloth. A good portion of it ended up on poor Miss Rini's beautiful gown, though, and after dabbing his lips with the tablecloth, he glared murderously at Maxim.

"Ja, ja, iz real fonny," he replied in Hildie's voice. In a slightly lower tone, he grumbled, "do dot again, und hyu iz dead."

Maxim's laughter surprised Gorobei from furthering his dramatic, poor excuse for an ice-breaker. He hadn't meant for it to be that funny, just as a way to revert attention away from any depressing subjects that it seemed they had happened upon. Now he wasn't sure if he was being mocked or if Maxim was just trying to anger Dimo even more. Or, maybe the joke had been that funny. Maybe he should ask.

Or, he would have tried to ask, but then his dress was covered in the alcohol. He gasped for dramatic purposes, standing up and trying to push the liquid off of his dress. When that didn't work, he nodded towards the table and said in his normal voice, "I'll try to clean myself up here. Carry on."

[[OOC: You guys can continue without me while Gorobei cleans himself up. I'll PM to make sure he comes back at the worst possible moment. And this way you guys don't have to wait for me to catch up on all my other logs. D: ]]

Frowning, Maxim watched Gorobei leave the table. "Awww, poor Meess Rini. Hope she gets her dress all cleaned op." His face suddenly breaking into a grin, he turned his attention back over to Dimo. "Ooo, does hyu usually flort dis much vit zumvun hyu chust met, dollink?" He winked and ran his tongue over his teeth, just to see how riled up Dimo would get.

This game was getting easier and more fun to play by the second, and Dimo was really helping it along

Dimo sat and watched in silent despair as Gorobei stood and left their table. The other man had been poking at Dimo's limits pretty much all night, but he did know when to stop. With Maxim playing right along with the charade, and Jenka just sitting at the other side of the table and doing nothing but smirk at him, Dimo realized that it was going to be a challenge to keep to his end of the bargain. But the show must go on after all. And that meant staying in character, and attempting not to let Maxim get the better of him.

The hand holding the fan quickly traveled up to hide most of his annoyed expression, and "Hildie" glanced appraisingly at this "new" suitor. "Not uzually, und ezpecially not vith zomevun like hyu, vhat looks like he might take advantage of a poor gorl. But hyu iz charming, und I likes charming. Does hyu hyuzelf flirt vith all de gorls, or iz I just lucky tonight?"

The annoyance was there, he could still see it easily. He knew Dimo too well to miss any buried emotions.

"Certainly not all de gorlz, hell no." Under the table Maxim slowly slid his hand across to feel at the fabric of Dimo's skirt. It really was out of innocent curiosity, but he knew Dimo would probably slap his hand away in a moment or two. "No, dere iz a special leedle zumtink dot hyu gots. Can't qvite put my finger on it..."

"Besides," he smirked, "hyu florted vit me forst."

Maxim's wandering hand was a cause for concern, but it hadn't gotten annoying yet. Dimo would definitely be keeping an eye on it, but for now, with the purple Jager's hand close to his knee, it wasn't a problem. Any higher, though, and he'd earn a decisive rap across the knuckles with Dimo's fan, at the very least.

"I iz different from pretty much any odder gorl hyu vill meet," he conceded, attempting to flag down a waiter to get another drink. For some reason, though, they all seemed to be avoiding this table...

"For vun ting, I vill go over to de bar myzelf und make my own drink if zomevun doezn't schtart paying attention to our table zoon. I vould very much like anodder drink." With the way that things were going, he would be needing it.

Dimo hadn't made any move to slap his hand away. Interesting. He should know Maxim plenty well enough to be aware that this would only encourage him to be more mischievous. Focusing less on the skirt and more on what was underneath it, Maxim's hand rubbed back and forth across Dimo's knee, curious as to the reaction he'd get before trying to go higher.

"Deefferent, huh? Hy dunno. Hy has met a lot of gorls. Hyu doesn't seem too deefferent so far." He smirked as Dimo's annoyance grew. One of those waiters had better bring him another drink soon if they knew what was good for them.

"Mebbe if Hy... gots to know hyu a leedle better." Now his hand was slowly finding its way up Dimo's thigh and he was giving Dimo the most lascivious smirk he could manage.

Dimo didn't meet Maxim's gaze as they spoke, keeping his yellow eyes trained instead on that hand. None of the frilly underpinnings that Gorobei had insisted that he wear had come loose yet, which was a hopeful sign. Perhaps this evening would go at least a little better than he was afraid that it would. His first instinct right now was to issue a warning growl before he smacked Maxim's hand away, but "being a lady" won out. "Vell..." he started, intending to come up with some silly thing that made Hildie stand out as a paragon of femininity, but before he could, Maxim's fingers slipped from his knee to the inside of his thigh and began a slow ascent.

Trying as hard as he could to act the outraged woman, Dimo glared at Maxim and whacked his knuckles with the lace fan as hard as he could. The delicate accessory snapped in half from the force of the blow. "Hyu gots zome nerve! I iz not dot kind of gorl!"

"Ow!" Maxim quickly drew his hand away and shook it. That had really hurt. And it was no wonder. The thing had broken completely into two pieces, one of which was now dangling from the other by the lace. Dimo was really playing this out. He was so desperate to stay in character that he'd gone and broken Gorobei's fan. At least, he assumed it was Gorobei's. Where else would Dimo have gotten such a thing?

Looking up, Maxim couldn't help but notice all the of bewildered and slightly worried stares they were receiving after Dimo's outburst. Now that he thought about it, they definitely were a very odd sight, and anyone who knew anything about Jägers was probably about to ask a waiter for their check.

Finally, the hilarity of it all caught up to him and Maxim started laughing, hanging his head and shaking it slowly. He looked up again at Dimo, grinning fiendishly. "Yez, bot hyu iz definitely dot kind of guy," he said in a deep, husky voice ( ... )

Dimo stuffed the broken fan into his handbag. He'd have to replace it for Mamma later on, with interest. She had made him give his word that he'd take good care of her possessions, but at least only the one item was broken (so far). It had been a cheap fan, more for ostentatious display than for function, but he would likely still regret having broken it later on.

At Maxim's next words, the growling started. It was just enough to warn any sane person that Dimo meant business, but how far that would get him with Maxim was another story. The deep and threatening sound grew louder as Dimo grabbed Maxim's wrist to halt his hand in place.

"Mebbe vhen I gets home," he said in an unamused tone, "but not right now." Dimo tightened his grip, and to make certain that his message was clear, added, "Hyu does vant to keep dis hand, right?"

Slowly, his grin faded. Dimo wasn't playing anymore and quite frankly, that took all the fun out of it. Maxim couldn't understand why Dimo got so serious all of the sudden and it angered him just a bit. It had all been a game, right? Dimo was just pretending for the fun of it and Maxim was just teasing him. So why was a little innocent groping under the table the deal breaker ( ... )

Gorobei returned from the washroom, a large spot of water replacing the smaller spot of alcohol on his dress. Although he had mastered the finer works of sewing and flirting, cleaning had always alluded him. He was just hopeful that one of his crewmates would not think twice after seeing a large dress smelling like alcohol and covered in whatever soap Gorobei could find in his room ( ... )

Jenka had been silently watching Maxim and Hildie - first with amusement, and then growing confusion. Still, she was used to them being confusing, so she wasn't about to say anything. They got themselves into the whole situation - situation, relationship, whatever - and they were going to have to deal with it. Jenka was there purely for the entertainment.

Maxim took any chances of entertainment with him when he departed, so she leaned forward on the table, resting her chin on a fist. "Eidder ov hyu boys gots any idea vot's goink on?" she asked in Dimo's general direction. To her credit, she wasn't making an 'I told you so' face. Leaving it for the next round, perhaps.

He'd overreacted, and though he was eager as hell to get out of the dress and home, Dimo regretted letting his temper get the better of him. As he'd pushed himself up out of his chair to catch Maxim before he walked out the door and Dimo ended up spending a lonely and cold night on the deck, Gorobei had caught the other Jager's attention.

"Not really," he admitted to Jenka, smoothing his skirt down and hurrying over to his two other companions. "Guess I got a little too excited," he said in an apologetic tone, striving his hardest to get back into a Hildie frame of mind. "und I let a tiny annoyance get de better of me. I von't do it again, becauze I doezn't vant to drive avay de," he ran his gaze appreciatively up and down Maxim, "intriguing company. Vill hyu let me buy hyu a drink by vay of apology, sveethot, und den ve can tell dese schtories vhat Rini's talking about." He did look genuinely sorry, though the batting eyelashes was probably more than a little distracting.

"I iz just hot-blooded tonight."

Honestly, Maxim was rather relieved when he heard Dimo's voice behind him. He'd been rather hurt by threat and hearing an apology was just what he needed. Normally violence was part of their normal routine, but it was always consensual violence; a very different concept. This had been rather serious and just not something Maxim had been in the mood for. Beneath the silly facade, Dimo seemed truly apologetic and Maxim's demeanor changed in an instant ( ... )
