...Gavin. Chiri couldn't hide the fact that the name brought back memories. Memories of her time before being transferred to the Victoria II. The various ships she had been on, one of which was captained by a Gavin. Still though, it couldn't be the same Gavin (she had heard rumors of a younger brother) that was just plain and simply unlikely.
...or so she thought.
"Sir, here are some more papers for you..." she began, opening the door slowly. She trailed off when she saw the man at the desk however.
"...Captain Gavin?"

Pause.
"...Major Kitsu," the former captain greeted back with a polite nod and a small smile, quickly getting over his own surprise. "Fancy seeing you again." He usually did make an effort to remember his (now former) ship crew, but Chiri was one more the more... outstanding ones that he remembered all too well.

She wondered how long he’d been on the ship without her realizing it. Had she missed his posts on the network? It was true she didn’t pay attention to it enough. Did he join before her transfer? If so, then it was a shame to know she never noticed him on board before.
But what was mostly on her mind was the fact that he had gone from Captain to Lt. Commander. It felt awkward; she wanted to know why but flat out asking ‘why were you demoted sir’ would probably not go over well. So instead, she changed the question around.
“What brought you to the Victoria II sir?”

He shifted off a little to stack up the documents a bit more properly before taking the first paper off the top and glanced through it. He stopped when the Major spoke again, pausing for a moment before settling down the paper onto the table in front of him and let out something of a rueful sigh and then responded. "I simply ran into a spot of a problem sometime last year and I thought that going back to my roots would do me some good."
The demotion however, was another thing altogether.
