Milady was growing restless. She hadn't even wanted to be here in the first place, doing the menial work of a radio operator, a mere adornment in this ship's crew. I am no jewel, she had said, eyes flashing, but a blade -- and yet he had only smiled and handed her the assignation papers and there was no way to refuse.

Well.

Not yet.

Let it be as he pleased, then. She would smile and laugh and charm and build up her own network within this vessel, but she would be damned if she couldn't find a way to extract her own measure of personal satisfaction from this assignment. Milady pulled on a light coat and exited her room, closing the door with a definite click. Menial work indeed.

The route she took on her way out of the ship was deliberate, having been planned the night before. As she had hoped, her guess had been correct; so when her path took her by the infirmary door and raised her hand to knock on it the smile that settled on her scarlet lips was quite genuine. "Miss Takano? I hope I'm not intruding."
