At the very same moment, Pip Bernadette was also weaving through the crowds, though for an entirely different reason. Pretty much every other officer except him had been kept in the infirmary due to the whole fiasco with the fear gas - which also of course meant that all the work had been pushed onto him. He took it in stride; taking care of a ship for a bit was fine, since he was used to taking care of a ragtag group of riffraffs.

...but soon enough he had a problem that he needed to ask the captain about - and when he had tried to find Yuri, well. He was gone.

So at the moment the brunette was going through the crowd, trying to catch the sight of the other's long purple hair as he looked about and then shouted out to find him. "Oy, Yuri!"

Erza was doing her best to enjoy the festivities. She had Ex-Quipped into something more appropriate for the occasion; In place of her armor was a modest yellow sun dress. She was feeling much better now, thank you, and although they'd tried to keep her in the infirmary ('just to be safe', they said), Erza could be quite insistent when she wanted to be. And an infirmary bed was the last place she wanted to be right now.

She spotted the Captain, and beelined towards him. On the way, she saw the other person headed for him: Pip Bernadette. Her brows furrowed. The captain, she liked. Him, not so much.

Oh well.

Yuri rolled his head around leisurely. Normally, people shouting his name in the streets wasn't a good thing, but he was usually ok as long as they didn't include his last name (then would be the point he made a run for it).

He spotted Pip coming up behind him and paused, then waved a hand in the air to let him know he'd noticed him.

Ah, he noticed. At least things wasn't going to be so troublesome now. Pip waved back in return as he continued to go around the crowds while marveling somewhat at how many people were here. This wasn't something you could see everyday, even in Ivona or Vohemar. Kinda amazing, really.

Once he had (finally) managed to catch up with his somewhat questionable at times captain, the brunette paused to catch his breath before straightening himself with a huff and then speaking. "Seesh, I was wonderin' where you'd be. Been lookin' all over for you."

And yes, he was still oblivious to Erza approaching them.

On the side of the Victoria II, Roy himself had also taken the first chance out to leave the ship and check the area of the plane races out. He was in uniform at the moment, if only because he was a little too lazy to change out AND he wanted to make sure he could sneak right back into his ship if someone suddenly required him to return.

The alchemist cricked his neck, yawned a little, and scoped out the crowds as he moved along. Nobody interesting so far--

Wait.

That was a rather nice-looking girl over there. With a mean looking dog. Wait, was that even a girl...? Roy squinted from where he was at the far end of the street, trying to check the other out from a safe distance.

Yeah, the drink incident happened in canon 8D;;; lustrolupo June 22 2009, 12:18:05 UTC
Yuri sighed and cracked his neck a bit. It had been to much to hope that the weapon vendors would actually have anything worthwhile. Nothing but scrap metal and brittle pieces of crap. He turned around and made to head back into the crowds, but stopped as he caught sight of some military suit eyeing him.

Leering almost, really. God, if this was another guy offering to buy him a drink, Yuri was going to have to punch something. He glared straight back at the other guy and tilted an eyebrow in flat annoyance.

Why was she glaring at him--

Wait. She, right.

Wait, no.

...Oh shit.

If Roy Mustang had not been Roy Mustang, he might have wanted to find the nearest rock and crawl under it. Since he WAS Roy Mustang, though, the alchemist only coughed, hastily turned away and focused on something else.

That makes for the first and only time that he ever mistook a guy for a girl.

Yuri's frown deepened into a full scowl. As nice as it was to see the guy had recognized his mistake, Yuri really sort of wanted to punch him in the face.

However, as punching a military - he glanced quickly at the man's adornments and hoped his memory was still intact - officer would probably land him in jail again, Yuri had to settle for the next best thing.

He strode across the crowded street and stopped a few feet in front of the suit. "So," Yuri said, head tilted at a cocky angle, "Are your officers giving out gawking leave nowadays?"

The moment the ship landed, Abe was out the exit like no one's business. He had been waiting for them to get to the venue impatiently, eager to run around and see if there were parts he could use to soup of his and Souji's plane, which he was in charge of pretty much creating.

He was so absorbed in looking at the stalls that he ran right into some woman's back, hair and all. "Phtooey," he spat, frantically trying to getting all that hair out of his mouth.

Yuri stumbled forward a bit when someone practically rammed into him. He turned around (and made sure his wallet was still around) with a retort on his lips. "Hey, watch where you're go- Oh. Abe, you ok?" Yuri reached out a hand and steadied the still wobbling pilot.

Abe blinked up at the woman -- who was apparently not a woman and was, in fact, his captain, and nodded. "Sorry about that, Cap'n," he muttered, pulling out a stray hair from his mouth, before remembering himself and saluting smartly.

And he had thought he had managed to get outside first. Damn, the man was fast.

Yuri waved a hand, half impatient and half exasperated. "Don't salute me, this isn't the freaking army." Though his words were irritable, his voice was amused enough to keep any real bit from coming through. "You out looking for some last minute parts?"

Yoruichi wished she could, in good conscience, spend her day doing something more pleasant. Like having a tooth pulled. Or maybe some toes broken. Information extraction wasn't bad when one did it by sneaking around. Living aboard a ship, trying to pick up a crumb here and there was excruciating.

It meant small talk. Chit-chat. People knowing where your room was. Yoruichi wasn't against all people, there were a few she enjoyed quite a bit. But people needed to grow on her. Slowly. Over time. Barring that, she needed to be able to order them around as if she were their personal god. Yes, really quite depressing what she stooped to, these days. Like stalking the Captain. Well, no sense in delaying any longer. Ugh ugh ugh ugh.

"Hello, Captain," Yoruichi said, right behind his right ear.

Had it been any other person, Yuri probably would have heard footsteps ahead of time. Yoruichi being Yoruichi, though, he heard nothing until her smirking voice wound past his ear. He jumped a little, hand instinctively tightening on his axe, but relaxed quickly enough when he realized who it was.

"You know," Yuri turned around with an expression that tried to be irritated but couldn't quite get past amused. "Sneaking up on me is not a good idea, especially in a crowed place."

"Really? And here I just wanted to be certain my Captain was nice and safe," Yoruichi said, her low voice very dry.

"So many exciting things have been happening lately, it would be such a shame if anything happened to my Captain because he was careless. I'd probably have to switch ships out of shame."

She smiled at him blandly, but there was just a hint of amusement in her eyes.

Yuri smiled back, though with a somewhat sharper edge. "I think I'll be fine. Besides, it looks like I've got you to watch my back, right?"

Naminé‏‏ had been left to her own devices for the day. Everyone else was too busy preparing for the races; but she didn't mind that much-- it gave her a chance to sketch. She hadn't been able to do so for quite some time now, and especially seeing everyone's enthusiasm about the festivities, she had been wanting to sit down and just enjoy the people passing by.

And why stay cooped up on the ship to do that? There was plenty of sunshine and light outside to enjoy and sketch under. The girl held her sketchbook to her chest as she moved through the crowd, looking for the perfect place to curl up and draw.

She found one in a little café‏‏ not too far from the marketplace, where tables and chairs were set up outside. After ordering a cup of tea, she settled down, her slim fingers pulling out her pencil from the binding loops of the sketchbook. Her blue eyes took on a whimsical look as they gazed out over the crowd, intermittently glancing down as she began to draw.

Since he'd not quite gotten around to delegating shopping duties amongst the crew, Yuri had figured he might as well pick some stuff up while he was out. Not that he had a list or anything. Content to wander about and keep an eye out for anything interesting, Yuri found himself strolling down a side-street near the main market.

Repede's ears twitched, twice, and the dog glanced over at a small restaurant, as though he'd scented something familiar. Yuri followed his gaze and spotted Naminé sitting at one of the tables, absorbed in a small pad of paper.

Somewhat curious now - and because he was looking for interesting things, after all - Yuri padded over to her. "People watching?"

She'd gotten the perfect angle to draw, and now she was fully concentrated in her work. The sunlight struck the shop below so that it illuminated the shopper's eager expression just so as she spoke with the owner, leaning a little over the counter as the two women gossiped about the latest news, no doubt, one hand waving animatedly, and the other set on the head of her bored child, who eyed the candies sitting just within reach and--

"Oh!" Naminé was startled out of her sketching reverie when a familiar voice addressed her, her pencil swerving in a dark, hard line away from the other pristine strokes she had taken. The blonde glanced up to see who her audience was, and seeing the purple head of her Captain, turned up her lips to give him a rueful smile. "Oh, I'm sorry Captain. You startled me." She flipped her pencil around and carefully erased the line, dusting the shavings off of her pad before turning it to show to him. "A little bit of watching, a little bit of sketching."
