They had mostly managed to clear the deck and whatever they could reach, and repairs were finally underway, but there were still some bits of the ship that concerned Hughes. The mast, for example, had needles that couldn't be retrieved and---

What was that?

Hughes squinted at the sails, noting the blue thing climbing about. "Ranulf?" he called brightly when he realized who it was, waving his clipboard at the quartermaster. Well, that took care of his problems!

Ranulf's ears perked at the sound of his name, and the quartermaster looked down, seeing the waving shape of Hughes. He grinned, using his blunt, in this form at least, claws to slowly move down low enough to jump the rest of the way. He landed with a soft thud on his hands and feet, his back bending in a way that looked a little odd for a humanoid.

The laguz straighted up, dusting himself off and smiling. "Hughes." he greeted, glancing at the needles now strewn across the deck where he tossed them.

Hughes laughed at the short show, openly admiring Ranulf's grace, his hand automatically going to the back of his neck in a sign of sheepishness. "Glad to see you around, man! I was just wondering how we were going to take those needles off the mast and sails. But I thought you got attacked earlier? How are you?" he asked, peering at Ranulf in an exaggerated examination of his fellow officer's health. The mast was already looking better than it previously was. They really, really should avoid things that left marks on the ship.

The catman tried to hide a slight blush, and his tail twitched in sympathy. "Ahhh... well I wasn't too badly hurt. Just a few needle scratches. Nothing vital."

To be honest he was still a little sore in some of the... softer parts of his anatomy. But his need to make up for being gone overcame his embarrassment at limping a little.

"Plus, I kinda needed to make up for that... little bit of failure during the attack. You know how it is."
