Characters: Arietta and Ryohei Content: The two play a game of Marco Polo to help Arietta find the kitchen. Setting: Victoria II, at some point the kitchen Time:UMMMMMMMM EXTREME O'CLOCK? Warnings: EXTREME SHOUTING!!!!!!
Once the conversation on the journals ended, Ryohei was sure that he should wait a moment, mostly to let Arietta settle into the idea of the game. So he occupied himself in making sure stock was in order--or somewhat--so he and other cooks that worked in the kitchen could find them.
Really, he'd just end up forgetting where he put things later, but he certainly didn't think so!
"Yosh!" Deciding now would be a good time to start, he moved from the cabinets to the doors, all but slamming them open. Oops. Well, they were extremely sturdy doors! They'd be perfectly fine, since they didn't bang too loudly.
Clearing his throat, a wide grin spread across his face, and he looked around to see if anyone was around. As he found no one, he lifted his hands up to cup his mouth, taking in a deep breath.
Arietta could have heard that yell from a mile away. She bit her lip once more and pulled on the two locks of hair that framed her face. She then ran back inside her cabin and picked up her doll, hugging it to her. She felt a little better now.
Venturing down the hallway in search of the voice, she called out her own, "Ma--" before realizing that that wasn't was she was supposed to say. Pausing, she finally remembered her own word again, "Polo." This time she said it a bit louder. Maybe she was getting a bit more confident?
She still didn't exactly know how to play. What now? Did he say 'Marco' again? Arietta shuffled her feet and waited.
Though Ryohei didn't hear anything, he assumed that she'd heard him. He had made sure to yell as loud as possible, after all, just like he said he would. Waiting a couple seconds, he moved from the doorway of the kitchen so he could possibly meet her halfway.
"MARCO!" he called out again, not quite as extremely as he had before, but still loud enough for the whole entire ship to hear him. Which was good, because he had no idea where Arietta was! For all he knew she was clear across the ship, so he had to make sure he could be heard from where he was!
Not like that was a problem, but Ryohei certainly didn't seem to be aware of this fact.
Arietta ran forward again at the next sound of Ryohei's voice, down one of what seemed like the Victoria II's endless hallways. Navigating a forest was easier than this. Everything here was so uniform. It made it hard to get her barings.
But she was finally getting the hang of the game, maybe. Finally, his voice faded and Arietta stopped short, unsure of where to go next.
"P-polo!" she yelled this time as loudly as she could this time. She still wasn't sure if he would be able to hear, since she definitely could yell as loud as he could, but she was trying! Hopefully he would respond regardless.
