Apparently, there had been an error in communication. Edgeworth had not intended on a training exercise for the crew as a whole (although it wasn't a bad idea); this meeting was intended solely for Bunansa's benefit. In a strange twist of fortune (whether it was good or bad fortune was anybody's guess) Edgeworth had decided that Bunansa was full of potential. However, the boy also had several flaws, most of which were born out of inexperience. His skill in combat was just one example of this trait ( ... )

Any questions? Ffamran had them by the bucket. Several of them, even, had to do with why he was here in the first place. He knew his stamina wasn't the best, but he was hardly incompetent, he wasn't really questioning the Commander's judgment but ...

"I suppose why I've been chosen for such an honor, sir." He did his best to make it have just the correct touch of seriousness.

He was wondering why the hell he was here. He headed over to the wall and picked up a towel and started to dry his neck, hands and any other exposed skin he could reach.

Edgeworth furrowed his brow and stared at Ffamran for a brief moment. There was a slight frown on his face and a flash of confusion, before he shook his head.

"It's no honor," he said crisply. "It's just a bit of practice. As for why you were chosen, you're one of the people on this ship who would benefit from it the most."

He crossed his arms behind his back and paced while Ffamran toweled himself off. "You're still young enough that what bad habits you have can still be broken down, but you're competent enough that this won't be a waste of time. You just need more experience and dedication - and consider yourself lucky for that. Most people aren't that fortunate."

He had actually been something of a slow study in 'edgeworth-ese'. It probably didn't hurt that Doctor Cid gave compliments like that with some frequency, or at least those were the only kind of compliments he gave, although they were infrequent. Regardless, Ffamran recognized the praise, or at least the fact that Edgeworth didn't think he was completely hopeless. It was a nice feeling, actually.

"Well, 'tis one of the advantages of being young, I suppose." He crossed his arms in front of him and considered his options. He'd been meaning to ask the Commander about his past in Vohemar, but obviously that wasn't the sort of thing one could come out and just ask.
