PATROL TIMEZ. thewarisover April 16 2009, 12:37:26 UTC
On his very first day with the Victoria II, Roy decided that with or without the crew list, he was going to do a round throughout the whole ship. The man secured a map right after breakfast, and decided to set off from the east and work his way down west.

Little did he know that the route he had chosen was the exact reverse of the route that a particular boatswain colleague of his took every day.

STARTIN' FROM THE OTHER END, BROTHER. mayovice April 16 2009, 13:20:44 UTC
Hijikata on the other hand of course was on his daily schedule - waking up at four, training until six; a shower, and then breakfast until seven. Returning to his quarters after that to ensure that everything was fine (as well as to let Lucied out around the ship to do what it wanted; Chi usually stayed or she'd wander, he didn't know) before getting his sword and securing it to his side and making his way to start on his usual daily rounds.

He was unaware of what Mustang was up to of course - he didn't bother, as much as the whole lookalike thing was still annoying him. For now, work was far more important. Personal things like these could be looked up when he had the time.

MEETING AT THE HALFWAY POINT! thewarisover April 17 2009, 02:33:49 UTC
...So far, so good. Roy turned a corner, and yawned as soon as he was sure the coast was clear. From what he had seen and experienced, the Vicky was just like any of the other airships he had served in. Maybe it was too early to...

Roy's train of thought cut off immediately when he looked up and saw none other than Hijikata coming his way.

Well.

THESE TWO SHOULD STOP MELDING. mayovice April 17 2009, 02:41:13 UTC
Hn, nothing too notable was up it seemed. There was a cabin boy slacking down the hallways a bit back, but now he was busy enough trying to mop the whole lower decks by himself. Served the idiot right anyway - now he new better than to try and take a break without permission. Feeling somewhat better for that (putting punishments on idiots never failed to make him feel better, really), Hijikata continued down his patrol.

Only about halfway there - just up ahead, turn right at this corner and--

...well.

Dinner time was something Hijikata looked forward to nowadays. With the addition of their new cook - as annoying as he was, the man had to admit that he did cook more than just decent food - dinner was now much more pleasant to his tastes, and he was glad for that. It was definitely a big improvement from the days where Sasegawa had been in charge of the meals.

...not that he had been, ever since that incident with the dough in the kitchens after Unification Day last year.

Grabbing his tray (along with a bottle of the usual mayonnaise), Hijikata shuffled down to one of the nearby tables, where he sat down quickly and without further ado, grabbed his cutlery and with a slathering of fresh mayo over his food, began digging merrily into his dinner.

Little did he know that he was eating alongside a particular boatswain... nor did he notice just how similar their eating habits were.

(Minus the mayonnaise of course; that was purely a Hijikata thing.)

...WHAT IS THIS. thewarisover April 16 2009, 13:14:52 UTC
It was the smell that caught his attention first. Scout's honor.

Then he looked down at the plate of the person beside him with disgust, and then squared his gaze up to take in the sight of Hijikata Toshirou, his mirror image.

That was a whole lot of mayonnaise.

(Roy, of course, was completely oblivious to the fact that they had their spoons up close to their mouths at the exact same distance, in the exact same position.)

ZIS IS ZE HIJIKATA SPECIAL. mayovice April 16 2009, 13:26:38 UTC
The samurai could feel the gaze of the other on him while he ate, the feeling eventually annoying him enough for the man to pause in his (now not) every merry dinner eating, gulping down the mouthful of mayonnaise and rice in his mouth before glancing towards his mysterious lookalike, an annoyed scowl on his face. Couldn't a man enjoy his goddamned mayonnaise for once around here?!

"Is there a problem?" he asked, voice clearly indicating a challenge towards the other. See if Mustang dared to seek death by his blade so quickly.

(...and of course, Hijikata was equally oblivious to the fact of their spoons as well, bless their souls.)

DOES NOT LOOK EDIBLE. thewarisover April 17 2009, 02:36:38 UTC
"How can you eat that?"

It was more of an honest question than it was a mocking one. Really.

Leaving his cabin after finishing another chuck of horrific paperwork, Cao Cao wasn't exactly in the mood for anymore silliness aboard this ship. It was bad enough that some of the new recruits have been harassing both the crew and passengers with such lewd and sexual remarks. Just the other day, the new mechanic made an announcement upon the network claiming that the breasts of their female passengers belong to him. If such a remark did not warrant a flogging, then perhaps it was the Gods above who tamed Admiral von Karma's wrath for such vulgarity.

"Why can't we just have normal soldiers aboard this vessel?" The strategist huffed as he turned towards the next corridor. He was on his way towards the top deck in hopes of having a quiet reprieve from the rest of the crew.

“These imbeciles amaze me...”

Vincent had been a little restless lately-- Greta sincerely thought that it was because he hadn't gotten much air lately. She glanced down at the puppy, obediently following at her heels as she went about her errands. Well, she only had a few more files to deliver, right? This one was going to the new boatswain, Mr. Roy Mustang. After she dropped it off with him she'd take Vincent onto the top deck for a run, or maybe into town to go exploring! The little girl hugged the folders to her chest, pleased with the idea. As if reading her mood, Vincent perked up as well, barking animatedly.

"Yes, you're exactly right Vincent," she giggled. She turned the corner and spied Cao Cao walking down the hallway in her direction. Greta paused in her walking and curtsied to him-- thankfully Vincent was trained enough to know to stop at her side. "Good day, Commander!"

Roy, in the meantime, was on the way up there himself. He had a pack of cigarettes at hand, and was hoping to take a really, REALLY quick break before continuing his round on the ship.

No paperwork yet, so walking was the only real option left to him. Really, though, all the stares and greetings for someone else who had his face were a little inconvenient. Amusing, but inconvenient.

Hijikata was already on the top deck by this time, taking a quick break for a smoke; god knows he needed one. The day had been nothing but another annoying one, as usual. More slackers, Lucied trying to paw at him once more, Chi playing with his boots yet again, and most of all the stares that had been directed at him. Far more stares than he was usually aware of, they were easy to brush off, but it was still annoying.

Damnit, was that new recruit seriously causing so much controversy?

The samurai muttered a few curses as he exhaled loudly, smoke blowing out from his lips and wisping off with the wind of the currents that went through the open deck of the ship. Damnit, if there was just one more person who was going to mistake him for that Mustang person he was seriously going to consider smacking someone. Or get them to commit seppuku.

Chi was excited. Lucied and her had been chasing each other all though the ship that day, switching roles as they went. The view of a huge puppy running in 'fear' from a tiny kitten was a sight to behold indeed. The two had a rocky relationship that bounced from two young creatures playing to two enemies for their owners attentions. But that was the way of things.

But eventually Lucied had run off after some scent or another, and Chi was left alone. So instead she went sniffing around to find Rou. Soon she caught a scent... then two? Two Rou smells. She blinked, tilting her head. That was... weird. Chi growled to herself. Stupid Lucied had a better nose then her, but of COURSE he had run off to do something stupid and dog-like. But after a quick sulk she just picked one and trailed it.

Roy was currently on his way back to his room, after a crazy patrol route and a weird encounter on the upper deck. Now that he was about ninety-nine percent sure that everyone on the ship was completely confused by his similarities with a certain other boatswain, he had decided to live up to the role and see how to use it to his advantage.

That's not to say that he wasn't going to investigate in the future, though.

The alchemist turned a corner with a yawn--

--And nearly stepped on a cat.

...Roy was not aware that pets were allowed on board a ship like the Vicky. How interesting.

...and if one cared to bother or not, Hijikata was also likewise on his way back to his room - the day's happenings had been more than annoying enough, and he needed to get onto his paperwork - and still feeling rather pissed off over what had happened. Damnit, as if his life didn't have to get even more irritating than they already were; as if Chi, Lucied and the rappig wasn't enough of an ordeal, now some oddball doppelgänger of his appeared in his life as well.

As if he really needed more troubles in his already troubling life.

The samurai muttered a few curses under his breath as he went up the stairs and down the main hallway and turned into a corner for a shortcut to his quarters, more than ready to just do his bloody paperwork and relax by reading a bit of his newest Steel Samurai comic--

...

Great, now Mustang seemed to have tricked Chi too. Just did the world like to pick on him so damn much?
