...oh that cheater. Bribing the judges! How low could you get? But to be honest he was more pissed that he hadn't thought of it himself. And if he followed suit it would just make him look bad. So instead he worked on adding the chocobo to the skewers he had pulled out of the drawers and then molding the sticky rice while those baked.

Then there was making the anko, which was his favorite part. A vaguely sweet smell filled the kitchen quickly.

Shinjiro at this point was completely ignoring Francis, focusing on his food. The beef and mushroom mix was poured over the rice then recovered. One dish done. The skewers were well on their way, and now was the time for the potatoes. His hands moved, deftly skinning them, and soon there was another boiling pot taking the place of the mushroom stock from earlier.

While that was boiling, he finished up the sticky rice, rolling various fillings inside it.

As Francis finished up his soup, Shinjiro was putting the last touches on his gyudon. The rice dish was much heavier then the soup, and to be honest, could have been a meal on it's own rather then something to wet the appetite. But Shinjiro cooked for sailors, not nobles. He worked to fill guts first, and tempt pallets later. This did not mean he was unskilled, but...

He shaved a bit of ginger, arranging it on the individual plates, then offered it up as his second finished dish. The smell was thick and wonderful, mixing well with the cooking soup. It was almost too bad they were competing, since the full meal would have been something to write home about.

And if Shinjiro noticed Gin and Tear's exploits across the kitchen, he was trying his damnedest not to show it... but a few glasses of wine made that VERY hard...
