Arietta would be beginning her service on the Victoria II soon, but for now she had those few days off for the festival and parades. She had steadfastly refused to so much as step foot outside of the manor to partake in the festivities. She had wanted to be home with Sync, since she knew he wouldn't care about that sort of stuff either. This plan backfired, however, when she found that she hadn't been able to see him nearly as much as she liked. She thought he was supposed to have leave for some of the holiday ( ... )

The novel had been one of his favorites for a reason, and before he knew it he was completely immersed in what he was reading. Sync almost didn't notice those timid footsteps approaching him until that quiet voice called him, blinking once before looking up in mild surprise, though he quickly suppressed it with his usual apathetic expression.

"Hello Arietta," He greeted her with a simple nod. "How long have you been here?"

Sync couldn't remember hearing the front set of doors shut. Had she been here all the time? Or maybe he’d been too distracted to really notice...

Arietta moved her arms as she would when she had her stuffed animal with her to cover her face, but she found that at the present moment she did not have it with her. She shuffled her feet, feeling awkwardly exposed.

"Not long," Arietta said in a way that sounded almost apologetic. Her eyebrows were furrowed tightly as she looked at him. She really shouldn't feel nervous around Sync anymore, but she couldn't help it sometimes. Especially with what she had to say next.

"I thought you were supposed to be off for some of the holiday." More shuffling. "But you haven't been home much at all..." She bit her lip and looked down at the the hem of her skirt, which she still found herself pulling on, now out of nervousness rather than discomfort.

Sync had already set down his book by the time Arietta finally got her words through, keeping a steady gaze on her before sighing vehemently.

"I wanted to make sure I finished any duties I've set aside beforehand. I'm sure the Admiral will triple the workload by the time the holiday is over." Now that he wasn't in the presence of any of the other crewmembers, Sync was free to groan, eye twitching at the thought of more work. However, the contortions on his face relaxed before he leaned back against the couch, motioning at the space next to him for Arietta to sit.

"I'll stay home for tonight though, so don't go worrying over that."
