A figure on the docks glanced up at the ship, examining what she could see from down there. In one hand she held the handle of a small, thin suitcase; under the other arm was a larger box with ornate metal reinforcements on each corner and a stamp - EMILY - on one side. The young woman holding the box pushed back a piece of blonde hair and stared at the vessel before walking up the ramp. She hoped someone would be there, not that she wanted to talk very long.

Joshua had been leaning against the Silvana's railing near the ramp, just watching Garretstown and its people. They say that attention seekers like high places, and while Joshua was no attention seeker, he liked the view he could get from an airship. Call it a change in perspective.

He did straighten a little when he saw a woman walking up the ramp, arms full. He didn't offer to help her with her goods. Instead, he gave her a small wave of the hand, smiling a little as he asked her, "Hello. Passenger, crew, or something else?"

The blonde stopped and turned her head to stare at him. Instead of answering his question (she wasn't sure what to say about it, for one, as she had come to ask to join up with the ship, but she especially didn't seem to be in the mood for making friends), she shook her head.

"What do you want?"

Joshua leaned against the ship's railing, gesturing in her vague direction with his other hand. Ignoring her question for now, Joshua continued with a smile, "Something else, then? It's better if I know who I'm travelling with. It simply wouldn't do if I made incorrect assumptions on who you are, especially given the Lunasa bombings."

Jushirou had, surprisingly, chosen this day to get out of his cabin and away from the copious amounts of paperwork he had to deal with regarding the Hyorinmaru incident that Heihachi hadn't been able to fill out for him. Nothing like a good walk to clear the mind, eh?

He had been making his way to the main deck to see if he could find Toshirou, and instead came across a new face. Perhaps one of their new passengers? He certainly seemed young...Oh well, no sense in not being polite, eh?

"Hello there, young man!"

Joshua turned at the sound of a voice and smiled in return, giving the stranger a lazy wave of the hand. He'd seen his fair share of people with naturally white hair (some acquaintances said his hair would make up its mind and turn white), but white hair and black eyebrows? Unless this guy dyed his hair white or something... most dyejobs were easy to tell apart from real colour though.

Joshua didn't know if this information was significant or not, but he ferretted it away in the back of his mind anyway.

"Howdy!" Joshua returned the greeting with a grin, "A fellow passenger? Or a member of the Kill 'em All Silvana's crew?"

"Ha ha, your second instinct would be correct, my friend!" Jushirou said cheerfully, giving Joshua a polite bow, one indicative of his rank aboard the Kill 'em All. Which, really, given the disposition of the man, it hardly seemed to suit him. But, as he continued his introduction, it would probably make a bit more sense...

"My name is Jushirou Ukitake, Quatermaster of the Silvana. At your service!"

Jushirou Ukitake. He recognised the name from the days he had spent just going through old news out of boredom during his uni days. Was this the ship Jushirou truly served? He doubted the Silvana was another ship he was gathering intelligence from, given the full name introduction.

If this was even the right guy.

Joshua smiled in response, loosely curling a hand by the side of his face. "The Safest Place on Reial", Joshua knew he'd most likely find people on the run on board. "You must have great confidence in the ship's reputation for an introduction like that to a stranger."

The day after Isshin finished his drinks with Ryuuken, the man was up only around in the early afternoon since he decided that some extra sleep would do good, especially after that long night with the other doctor. He was forty-eight now after all; not a very young age to go drinking possibly more than enough alcohol for the year.

He hummed a tune as he went about the ship, nothing much to do ever since the Hyourinmaru incident and the ship restocking and resting at Garettstown and some of the crew away for the Long Night festivities. Isshin made a note to join in the fun, possibly later in the evening. Though now he had some medical files to update and everything...

Just as he went down the main corridor, Isshin noticed a familiar figure wandering down the halls. He could never not forget the odd hairstyle and ways of the kid that had been visiting his clinic in Melior ever since he was just this small. The man grinned, approaching towards the newcomer as he greeted with a merry wave and shout, "Why, if it isn't Kiryuu-kun! Long ( ... )

Joshua smiled and lazily waved back in return. It wasn't that Joshua didn't expect Isshin, after all, he'd known since his last stop off at Melior that Isshin was on the Silvana. But he had been hoping to see Isshin a little later. Still, it wasn't like Isshin's company was unwanted. It was good to have something familiar amongst a sea of unfamiliar faces.

"Hello, Isshin," he said warmly, approaching Isshin. "That's your fault for not telling me you closed shop."

daddys_bear December 12 2008, 00:50:11 UTC
Isshin laughed a little at that, feeling less than a little awkward as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Ahaha, apologies for not telling you! It was a bit of a sudden decision on my part," he apologized frankly, though the playful gleam was not lost in his eyes. "But Ichigo and Karin have already decided to go out on their own and Yuzu's having a good time with her own job. This old man just decided to see what he could do outside again!" It had been over two decades since he quit his job as a bounty hunter and laid down his zanpaktou and though he was a doctor now there were still the times where he had to fight. Like in the Montague, or during the Hyourinmaru fiasco.

"Aside from that though," he contiuned, still smiling at Joshua, "How are you doing, Kiryuu-kun? Its been quite a while since I saw you." Over six months already, to be exact - he hadn't seen the teenager even since before even Unification Day came.

"Careful, you might pull something in your back if you start running around like a young one, Isshin," Joshua teased, making it clear in his tone that he meant 'old man' in place of Isshin's name. "You forgot out conversation already? If you're already forgetting things at your age..."

He loosely curled a hand by the side of his face and grinned. "... Maybe you're getting senile?"

Come into my web, said the spider to the fly~ inyourmidst December 12 2008, 00:41:04 UTC
The Silvana's radio room had undergone a bit of reconstruction since Gin had taken up residence there. Few people had dared to ask what he was doing, but the most he'd ever been willing to say was that he was 'improving' their equipment, which basically amounted to making it utterly unusable to anyone but himself.

At the moment he had the communications scanner opened up with its mechanical innards spilling over his desk. Cables crawled over him like vines, and he was humming absently to himself as he patiently rewired the control panel to a completely incomprehensible configuration. The door was left open as a silent invitation, but for some reason he never had many visitors. Perhaps the humming put them off.

Joshua was a curious person and although he knew the saying about curiosity and the cat, it hardly seemed to apply to him when he always somehow managed to escape very bad ends. He knew his luck may not last, but life was much more interesting this way.

He'd been in a few radio rooms in his life (they could be amazing prank tools ♪), but never one quite like this. Joshua didn't enter, leaning against the doorframe instead, silently watching the radio ops at work. Or was it at play?

"You can come in," Gin offered, although he'd given no indication that he'd heard Joshua arrive or that he'd been anything other than thoroughly engrossed in his work. He leaned back on his chair, directing his usual, deceitful smile at the young man. "I don't bite."

New arrivals were always of interest to Gin - and that had to be the case here, because he'd memorised the faces of all existing crew members. "Are you our new passenger, perhaps?"

Deceit was something Joshua was very familiar with, so the moment the stranger's grin was shown to him, Joshua knew he shouldn't be complacent around this guy. There wasn't even a real reason for Joshua to feel a little more alert (yet, anyway), but Joshua wasn't one to ignore the strange feeling down his spine.

But outwardly, there was no change in his attitude, only returning the radio ops' smile with one of his own. He continued to lean against the doorframe though, more because it was comfortable than anything else. "I'll pass," he replied with a lazy wave of his hand. "I wouldn't want to get in your way."

Joshua grinned at the assessment. "I hear the Silvana's hiring."

Behind closed doors, through a small portion of the Silvana's winding hallways, and blending in with the soft, almost lulling hum of the ship's powerful engines, the faint and rhythmic sound of sharpened grunts of exertion could be heard towards the vessel's core. The door was never locked, though, so anyone with enough bravery (or even curiosity) could peer inside and find one Ikkaku Madarame inside, his bare feet hitting the thatched tatami mats lining the floor of his quarters/dojo as he stepped and swung his wooden sword forward. His eyes were focused forward at all times, never moving, always fiercely stuck upon one intangible target.

After several dozen strikes in the same, identical fashion, he sighed, then lowered his weapon and wiped his smooth brow with the edge of his long, flowing sleeve. He looked only slightly tired by the exercise, but no worse for the wear; one would never be able to tell just by looking that he had been practicing the same motion for hours.

Toshirou had been wandering the ship, trying to find something to do. He was still healing but for some reason he just couldn't sit still and do nothing. The sounds coming from the makshift dojo drew him towards the door and he peered inside. Seeing Ikkaku practice made the young man suddenly miss the familiar weight of his Zanpakuto on his back. He wondered if the older man would even bother to instruct him after the incident with Hyorinmaru.

Well, the worst he could do was say no, so Toshirou knocked at the door to get the other man's attention.

who_said_bald December 13 2008, 18:00:11 UTC
"YEAH, WHO IS IT!?"

Ikkaku's response to the gentle knocking was likely less than encouraging; it came in a gruff and unfriendly voice, shouted across the length of the room. A faint grumbling from within was next, an unintelligible muttering that sounded even less pleasant. Immediately afterwards, the sound of heavy footsteps marching closer and closer to the doorway followed, and after only a moment, Ikkaku's exaggerated scowl appeared, as did the bokuto he had been carrying, as the door flew open.

He looked down at Toshirou, eyeing him questioningly. "Oh, it's you. I thought you were...I dunno, grounded or something."

He didn't sound mad - at least, not any more than usual. Ikkaku had no bad feelings over the incident; there had been nothing personal about the attack, after all, so why get upset?

...of course, that didn't mean he liked the boy...

"So, whaddya want?" he asked, curling his pinky finger into his ear and digging it around a little.

"If by grounded you mean I was confined to the infirmary until I healed, then yes. But I'm sick of lying around and doing nothing." Toshirou crossed his arms over his chest staring up at the older man. The young man sighed, he didn't like asking anyone for help, least of all Ikkaku...but, the man might be the only one who would help him out with this at the moment.

"I asked you before, if you were still training people." Toshirou said looking uncomfortable. "I was wondering if you'd be willing to help me. If not I understand and I won't bother you again."
