TEOCUITLATL: SQUARE D4

Dec 20, 2007 21:59

The trees here start to get bigger the further to the west you go, their trunks growing so big that they dwarf the other trees in comparison. But they're also not nearly as crowded together as in other parts of the jungle, and after some walking it soon becomes apparent why ( Read more... )

[from here]

von Karma continued past the boy in irritated silence, refusing to respond to the boy's comment. The jungle was becoming easier to navigate, and soon he came upon the body of water- and stopped. The tell-tale glimmer of light did not go unnoticed.

"Hurry up, boy," he barked over his shoulder as he paused at the edge of the lake.

Yamamoto hurried along behind the Grand Admiral, steps coming much quicker as the vines and tree roots thinned out. He stopped at the water's edge beside von Karma and grinned big when he too noticed the shimmer in the water.

"Hopefully that's it, huh?" He stated with a laugh before he shrugged his pack off onto the ground. The nurse assumed that the Admiral wasn't about to dice into the water so he decided to take the plunge. He'd wanted to try to swim ever since he'd found out it was a safer activity up on the floating continents.

He took off his uniform's jacket and tossed it down next to his pack, and quickly rolled up his pant legs. Once they were up he grabbed his shinai from his pack and kept hold of it before he started to walk out into the water, the fear of being in it creeping up his spine from years and years of being reminded just how dangerous the water was. Still, he ignored it in favor of the shining light ahead.

With a deep breath, he took the plunge downward.

von Karma studied the surface of the lake- it looked absolutely filthy in there, and he most certainly did not want to go in. Still, he'd been through worse, even though his clothes would be ruined. Taking off his jacket, he began, "Now, you stand guard while I- what are you-"

The nurse had already dipped below the water, and it was relatively unlikely that a shout of "You can't swim, you idiot!" would get him to resurface. Infuriated that the boy had acted without his order, von Karma replaced his jacket and fumed, gripping his shoulder slightly- on top of everything, it had to start acting up again.

Of course, it is more convenient to have the boy get... whatever it is, he mused. Hopefully, it was whatever treasure everyone was looking for, as he was tired of this search.

Being underwater was... well it was weird.

Yamamoto had taken plenty of baths in his life, but this was nothing similar. The water was everywhere and for a brief moment he wasn't sure what to do. In fact, he had no idea what to do. He had no idea how to swim, but his body insisted that it needed to get moving or else all this holding of his breath would be useless ( ... )
