Ever since Toshirou had lost control of himself the other day, Heihachi had been having uneasy premonitions that it probably wouldn't be the last time, but he'd hoped with Jushirou keeping an eye on the situation it wouldn't get out of hand.
Jushirou couldn't be everywhere at once though. There was a salvage to oversee, and despite his encouragements, Toshirou wouldn't seek anyone's help on the matter, which had finally lead to this. It had started with a shipwide chill, but after checking out the heating system there was nothing amiss...until the furnaces had inexplicably started to dim, and the cold became more oppressive. Heihachi was already intimately acquainted with it, and had realised what was going on right before Toshirou's scream had sounded across the network
( ... )
Jushirou had already ran out of his quarters. His tea set had come crashing to the floor, scattering the contents in a mess that froze immediately as it struck the floor. He didn't stop to watch the phenomenon though. Already he had tossed on the deep read "Sogyo" haori and grabbed his zanpaktou from its stand. This wasn't supposed to happen. Not now!
"HEIHACHI! STAND BACK!" Jushirou called out as he reached the top deck, immediately moving into his casting stance. There was little time...he had to act now!
"Waves rise now and become my shield.... Lighting strike now and become my blade....," he said, both hands gripping the hilt of his sword firmly, as a strong wind picked up around him.
"SOGYO NO KOTOWARI!!!!"
In a brilliant flash, what was once one blade was now two. Twin piked swords connected at the pommel by the same red cord that had kept the spirits of his blade tethered together.
Hyorinmaru continued to rage as it flew around the ship striking the sides every now and then slowly encasing the outer hull in a thin layer of ice. In the middle of the small blizzard kneeled Toshirou eyes wide with panic, and horror at what was taking place.
Ice encased his hands and feet, even working it's way up his spine until it branched off at his shoulders forming what was begining to look like wings.
Toshirou didn't hear his friend, or his mentor over Hyorinmaru's thundering roar all he knew was that he felt a shift in the air around him, another powerful spirit was nearby. He couldn't tell if it was a friend or an enemy. After tearing a very large hole in one side of the ship, Hyorinmaru flew at Jushirou roaring in fury.
The buildup had been impossible not to notice for anyone sensitive to that kind of energy. It looked like Hitsugaya had finally lost control.
This was a problem.
Ryuuken quickly made his way up to the deck in time to observe Ukitake bring out his weapons. He stood back a ways; there was no need to be too close.
Hm.
He knew he could potentially help here. As a Quincy, his power involved taking energy from around him and channeling it into his weapon. And Ukitake looked like he had the situation far from under control, he noted as the dragon tore a hole in the side of the ship.
Very well. It wasn't as though he was keeping these abilities a secret. His mouth formed a thin line, and his eyes narrowed as he drew energy from Hitsugaya. In his hand, a white bow appeared, but he did not use it. Instead, he discharged the energy directly into the atmosphere.
Scarlet eyes fluttered open at the sound of the roar. It was beastly, originating from somewhere outside, rattling the ship to its core. A dragon? The smoke from Yuuko's pipe danced in the air as she lazily pushed off the bed, heading languidly over to the door of her room.
It was pried open, and the woman, dressed down in nothing but a robe, set one spindly hand up against the door frame. "My..." she commented, glancing into the hallway for any sign of life, seemingly uninterested. Members of the crew were bustling around, horror painted into their faces.
Annoyance and amusement were warring for Gin's attention. On one hand, the delightful panic created by Hitsugaya's manifested zanpakuto was quite entertaining. On the other hand, if the dragon did any real damage to the ship, Gin was not going to be very pleased. He'd subtly tried to warn both the boy and the crew of what was coming (albeit not very insistently) and so if they were now suffering for not having paid attention it was rightly their own fault. Gin wasn't going to step in unless he had to.
In the panic that had taken over the corridor as people started to scramble for their posts, there was one pocket of unconcerned peacefulness that made Gin's face light up with a smirk. Well, he hadn't really expected to find her in dismay over this current turn of events. "Ah, Yuuko-san. You're looking well. Strange weather we're having, isn't it?"
A lock of raven hair kissed its way along Yuuko's fair cheek as she turned her chin toward the voice. The two of them were decidedly statuesque amidst the hustle and bustle of their fellow crew members, who were unnecessarily animated and excessively loud. But it wasn't as though the enchantress had imagined Gin would come running in despair, either. Fear wasn't a good color on him.
"Indeed," she purred, her smile an odd distraction in the panic. "We're getting ice a little earlier this year, it seems."
He didn't have any trouble reaching her doorway. People unconsciously veered around him and away from her, barely even acknowledging their existence. It might have been because they had greater things on their mind, but Gin would have bet that it was more likely to be a subconscious avoidance - a fear of what they didn't understand.
"Perhaps you should put on something warmer," he told her with playful courtesy. "We wouldn't want you to catch a chill now. I have a feeling our Doctors will be needing extra space in the Infirmary by the end of the day, anyway."
By the time Hyorinmaru had struck, Alex was in the middle of interrogation. And by 'interrogation' he meant that he was alone in a small, poorly-lit room with one of the poor bastards from the Montague's crew, and had him pressed up against the wall forcefully, demanding information.
So caught up in it was he that he didn't notice the sudden temperature drop until his breath began steaming the air in front of him. He looked up and around him, and as if waiting for his attention, ice began forming on the walls and ceiling, making cracking sounds as the ice settled.
When he listened, now, he could distantly hear loud noises playing out above him, as if a battle was going on, and a strange roaring noise, made distant by the layers and layers of metal separating him from it.
What on Reial?, he thought as he shoved the prisoner back into his chair and left the room, locking the door behind him

It had been so sudden, Isshin didn't even know it. One moment he had been busy trying to gather supplies for the office - a lot of it had been used up for the treatment of the survivors earlier when he had then felt the sudden sharp decrease in temperature and then suddenly Hyourinmaru's roar resounded through the ship before the man got what was happening. The power that he had felt in Hitsugaya earlier had been unleashed so suddenly. Isshin knew he could help in stopping it, which thus he hurried back to the medical ward

The doctor muttered a curse as he got back up from the floor, rubbing the part of his head where he had been hit as he tried to recall the look of the person who attacked him, a frown crossing his face as he replied. "He had... dirty blonde hair, almost a light brown in color - maybe chestnut brown. Blue eyes, a scar on his right cheek that I treated just now. I can't remember what he wore but he should be easy enough to find now since he's holding my weapon."
Another pause as Isshin recalled something else. "He's also about average height and thin as well, though that's nothing to be surprised about..." and he had to get his zanpaktou back somehow, so... "Would you like me to help you, Captain-san? I have a way to track my weapon, so if you allow me sometime I can locate where it is and find our terrorist in the process." Plus it was best if other people didn't used his weapon anyway - it was hard to use it, and he didn't want the crew to know about his hidden magical abilities.
Agrias had only signed on just days before the Montague and already there was a large crisis happening on board. She had opted to stay on the ship when the search was conducted, and now that they were in the air, the roaring of the ice dragon right outside of her cabin window was something less than expected.

Yuuko adjusted her fingers on the cool metal.
"So it's begun."

She stormed out of the room, ready for action.
"What is going on here!?" she demanded.
