The Dog sat at the intersection of two corridors, watching the whatever-it-was bobbing through the air towards her. It was some way above her head, but she could see it well enough - and was it carrying a journal?

That rang some little alarm bells - strange things running (or floating) around the place with stuff like that was far too much like the spider thing all over again. Not to mention it looked far more edible than those had been.

She barked and jumped up at the thing, batting at it with one paw.

At the sound of the bark and the paw swinging towards her, Ika-chan quickly changed directions by pointing her siphons in the diraction of this strange and new creature. With jet propulsion, she zoomed up to a nearby shelf and plopped onto it.

But Ika-chan wasn't used to carrying objects while escaping attack, and accidentally dropped her journal onto the ground.

The Dog blinked as Ika-chan's siphons blew air into her face. The falling journal clipped her side as it fell to the floor, and she spared a glance for it before jumping up at the shelf Ika-chan had landed on.

The shelf was too high for her to reach like that, though, without either growing significantly bigger - which would make her too heavy to jump high anyway - or sprouting wings, which the corridor was too narrow for.

She could probably figure out a way to get at the creature if she tried, but it should be easier to get it to come down. It had dropped the journal, after all, maybe it would come down after it? She sat down on the floor and tried to look unthreatening, staring up at Ika-chan.

Ika-chan rested for a moment, while keeping an eye on that strange creatue. She had seen a few land creatures that looked a lot like this one, but she never managed to get a close look at them; even she didn't want to get eaten. But she had been told not to lose he journal, so clearly it meant picking it up off the ground where she dropped it.

After wriggling to get closer to the edge of the shelf so she could see better, with a little puff of air, Ika-chan let herself drop towards the ground and the journal.

"Curse these airships and their poor ventilation!"

The quarters Sherlock Holmes currently occupied were filled with a strange-smelling smoke, the result of one of his experiments. He had successfully identified the chemical compound he was looking for, but the law of conservation of matter demanded this noxious byproduct. He threw the one small window open, and immediately spun around to open the door that led into the corridor. He picked up a sheaf of loose paper and began to fan the shelf containing his experiment, dispersing the fouled air.

Ika-chan continued her explorations all over the ship she now knew was called the Silvana. She had passed by other people, but there hadn't been much for her to do yet.

So when she floated around the corner into a room that had funny air and saw someone trying to fan it out, she floated over to help. Her journal was sort of the same shape as that paper, so she began (trying) to help fan away some of the yucky air.

Holmes glanced over mid-fan when the little flying creature showed up and began to help, then continued without batting an eyelash. Between man and squid, the air was cleared within minutes and the smell was faint and residual. He set the sheaf of papers down, dusted his hands off, and surveyed the room. "Excellent work, my good...squid?" He eyed the juvenile cephalopod. "I do not believe we have been introduced."

"You're welcome!"

Ika-chan grinned (or at least, the squid version of a grin, which was to wriggle her arms) at the person and plonked herself and her journal onto the table. She rested a tentacle on the journal while she waved the other. "I'm Ika-chan!"
