Tohru finished the final double-check she was making of the props on the table near the wings - everything for the first act seemed to be there, except - - oh, it had just fallen on the floor, that was alright.
Slightly at a loss for what to do next, she looked up enthusiastically at Ichigo's question. "I can help do it if you like!" she said, with a smile.
Shido didn't really think he was the kind of person who deserved a 'Mr' in front of his name, but it was an improvement over using his last name so he chose to let it go. He took charge of the lights and pointed them down on the 'female' lead as Watanuki took the centre stage. The boggled look on the cook's face said he too was still reeling from the Captain's announcement, so the couldn't have been the only two uninformed.
"The Captain has bad timing," he muttered, more to himself than Tohru, but it had to be said. "I don't think an announcement like that is going to improve anyone's performance."
He barely knew anything about acting and even he could tell that. He wondered why the Captain had chosen now of all times to reveal something so significant to his crew.
Tohru looked down at the stage. "Yes, if he had to do it, he could have chosen a better time..." She trailed off, watching Watanuki struggle through his opening lines. "Oh dear, poor Mr Watanuki!" Kurt's announcement was enough to send her mind completely reeling, and she didn't have to contend with stage fright at the same time.
Well, all they could do was do their best to make sure everything else went off without a hitch. There would be enough time to be shell-shocked after the play was over. Leaving Shido to control the spotlight, Tohru took the script back, scanning it to see what needed doing next.
