Characters: Komachi and Gorobei Content: Gorobei ventures into the middle of the robot-mess to find Komachi. Setting: Market of Melior Time: Afternoon Warnings: Robo-violence?
When the spiders started appearing, Komachi had tried to hide - but against the little ones that hardly helped, and after one tried to yank her journal right out of her hands, she'd jumped out of her hiding place yelling as she shook it off

Being a man who could hear an arrow being released from a few hundred feet away, Gorobei had no trouble hearing Komachi yelling his name. His head spun toward the sound of her voice. Without ever once coming to a stop, he turned in the direction her voice came from and started to sprint. He had to beat a few dozen robots away from her, sending a spray of sparks into the air, but he managed to get to her before she had gotten hurt

Komachi let out another shout of relief when she saw Gorobei rounding the corner. She didn't miss the blood running down his leg, either. Had he got hurt coming to help her? That was bad!
The robots had just reached her feet as Gorobei appeared, and more immediately started scrambled up to replace the ones he beat away. "Gorobei-sama! You came!" What he was saying didn't matter nearly as much as the simple fact that he was here and she wasn't on her own with the spider-things any more. Her answer to his next question, "Piggyback, I-" was cut off as a robot that had been clinging to the back of the bench made a grab for her ankle. She screamed and took a flying leap for Gorobei, clinging tightly around his neck.
The ground - and the robots crawling across it - suddenly looked a long way away, and Komachi felt safe again. This was almost as good as being back on Kikuchiyo's shoulder...
"Are you okay, Gorobei-sama?" she asked, thinking of the blood she'd seen dripping from his leg. "Did they hurt you?"
Gorobei smiled at Komachi's concern. It seemed that her year of running around with Kikuchiyo had not made her any less kind. "I can feel that I'm bleeding a bit, but it doesn't hurt, so don't worry about it." It wasn't the hurt that would be the problem, unfortunately
