Everybody had their secrets. On this ship especially, it seemed there was an abundance of people with dark and painful pasts. Though he was a curious person by nature, Heihachi made a point of not prying where it wasn't wanted, but with Ann he'd gotten a different impression. Sticking your nose into other people's business when it wasn't wanted, that was just rude. Having someone confide in you and not really listening, or worse, not believing them, that was just horrible ( ... )

"Huh? Oh, yeah. Come in."

Wipe your eyes. Wipe your eyes! Wipe your eyes, damn it--do not look like you were crying!

Ann sat up with a start, trying to adjust the skirts of her dress as she made a valiant attempt to get off the bed to get the door--

"Just a sec--AAAUUGH!"

--Only to fall face-first on the floor. Nice. Just great.

Ann rubbed her bottom, letting out a curse as she sat on the floor, probably looking rather silly.

"Agh...ow."

The crash startled him, and when he opened the door it was to find Ann in a rather ungraceful sprawl, her skirst in dissarray, and her cheeks reddened and streaked with...tears?

He didn't think it was from the fall. He didn't know much about what Ann was going to tell him; only that it involved a man who had killed her friends. Old hurts, especially the kind that were left to fester unspoken in your mind didn't get any easier to bear. Without thinking, Heihachi knelt at her side with a gentle, sincere smile, offering her his hand. "Miss Ann...do you need some help?"

Ann would have punched herself if she had the chance. How could she have been stupid enough to let him see her in this position--she was probably looking like the biggest idiot on this entire ship--not exactly the best way for a Quartermaster to act.

Hell, acting like this was probably not the best way.

She took his hand with the tiniest flush of embarrassment, nodding a bit.

"Th-Thanks. I kinda fell off the bed there, trying to get the door."
