Leaving the Winding Way was one of the hardest things Ness had to do. So, coming back would be easy, right?
Wrong.
Did everyone hate him for abandoning them? He didn't see what everyone had to say to him and was afraid to. But even if he had, he would still come back to them. The Winding Way was his home. His family. And there was nothing that could change that.
Stopping in front of the ship, Ness looked at it with the same awe that he had when he was first accepted as part of the crew. It felt like that moment all over again.
So, for the first time in what seemed like forever, he stepped onto the Winding Way.
