That's all I need? Awesome!

From The Nefarious History of Motherhood:

Men, you see, were hot and dry. When they started retaining water, it was a bad thing. Women, though, were wet and cold (Freud, anyone?). If women became TOO dry or hot, they turned into men. Thus, the Athenian angst over the Spartan’s tendency to allow their women to exercise with the men. TOO hot, too ( Read more... )

we're just so damn queer here, random, rambling, read this because you really should

Ack! Why did you show me this right before I should have gone to bed?

The chapters titles are calling to me. Must resist...

(at least until tomorrow morning)

Because I'm horribly evil and I do things like that? :D

You don't want to know how late I stayed up reading this yesterday evening when I had to get up at 5 AM this morning. Not good. And I meant to get caught up on everyone's writing, too (I'm that far behind!) but I just couldn't make myself stop clicking on more entries...

I spent the half day reading it, but since I grabbed the best of the five related links down below and then started over when I ran out of new stuff to read, I kind of wish the links turned colors when I'd read them. I'm not good at reading things in order.

For part of the time my daughter was home and I could tell her the juiciest tidbits. It is always so much more fun to read horrible, fascinating stuff if you can share the horror and fascination with someone else.

Thanks for the link. It's amazing, with a history like this, that humans have managed to survive so long.

I just open everything up in a thousand million tabs. *pats poor Firefox* But yes, coloured links would make for a better reading experience.

I know! It's way more fun when you can horrify the people around you, especially when you're all sharing that sensation of mutual leg-crossing. :)

This, so very much so.

Well, yeah, that's exactly what she was saying - how damn long that mode of thought has been around!

Bad computer! *gives it the evil glare* I hope it started playing nice for you.

Oooooh! I'm looking forward to photos! :D

Derailments are scary. (I know, Dad's a train driver.) So yeah, post them!

Cool, mail! That's always fun, although having to go pick up heavy mail because you're not at home is not so much fun. I'm waiting on a parcel from Japan that's taking forever. It'd better arrive next week or I'm going to start getting annoyed...

OMG, why did you post this link? Now I am compelled to read until I have finished every chapter...

Because if I have to get drawn into it, and read every entry in one hit, you all have to suffer with me? It's only fair that way!

(Oh, fine. I'll keep all the good links to myself next time! :P)

Half the people I know IRL think I'm an elitist dick. So you're really not the only one who can pay claim to that. :)

Anyway, I didn't see anything particularly awful. Differing points of view, yes, but people are allowed to have different points of view, and they weren't without basis. We're just seeing things from different angles and experiences, and I've said a few times that it's a really good experience learning how different people think about things.

And - I apologise for getting too forceful in places when it comes to debating. I could stand to back off a bit and go 'yeah, hey, that's what X thinks, let it go'. (I just so rarely get the chance IRL, and it shows. *cradles face in hands*) But it's something I really need to learn to do.

I'll try and reply and comment on things tomorrow. I need to give my hands a rest after a big weekend of typing! (I started writing a bit of the scene where my protag meets the love interest today, and, well. Must. Back. Away. From. Keyboard!)

Nah. All we were really talking about, really, was the meaning and usage of terms, and were they relevant or not. Nothing too terrible in that!

A learning experience for all concerned, I think, which is good. I'm still amazed as to how many comment threads that post spawned...

Indeed. I has 23k, now.

Yes! I want purple cyborg hands! That would be awesome!

(I'm LOLing at the fact that you even need to specify the original trilogy. Why would anyone voluntarily put themselves through the torture that is Jar Jar Binks more than a time or two? I used to know a guy who'd mimic his voice just to annoy me...)

How did your first day of meetings go? :)
